The Cincinnati Bengals, who are steadily trying to improve the team’s pass-rush, have expressed interest in former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Ellis who was released by the club on Tuesday.

Ellis’ agent, James D. Williams, confirmed earlier today that the Bengals are one of five teams that expressed immediate interest in the pass-rusher after his release from Dallas.

Ellis would be reunited with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer should he land in Cincinnati. It is expected that Ellis would be moved back to his natural defensive end position in the Bengals defense and work in rotation with Robert Geathers and Antwan Odom.

No visit has been scheduled for Ellis, but I’m told that further contact between the two sides is expected.

man the bengals are turning into Dallas-lite as well.

That kinda bothers me more than the dolphins and new orleans, I mean have you seen those helmets?

Does Cincy expect these guys to just "turn back the clock" because Zimmer's on staff?

Ellis would be an upgrade for the Bengals imo.

I agree. Use him in a rotation, keep him fresh, ... he's not a bad pickup.

Furthermore, it's more than mere coincidence that Ellis's most productive season in Dallas came after Zimmer's departure.

I'm hoping he goes there... Certainly more than to an NFCE team or the Patriots.

I wouldn't mind seeing some highlights of Roy and Ellis putting a hurt on some Steelers twice a year.

I think he could be a great strong side DE for them for two downs. Geathers and Odom are both better on the weak side and lack the ability to anchor against the run.

Silly Bengals. Just ask the Miami Dolphins what happened when they got a bunch of our rejects.

Oh, wait.

Seems like a very good fit.

Plus we could watch him on hard knocks.

Just keep him out of washington.

Dallas North-Cincy
Dallas South-Phins

And then there's the true Dallas.

Dolphins did well, but Cincy doesn't have the same front office and coaching.
Besides, AFC North is a pretty hard division. The phins had the luck after Brady went down.
