I been saying this, last yr was Mayowas first real playing time in the NFL and he was very good and is only going to get better. I dont think there is a better RDE in this draft other then Garrett then Mayowa. Sooner or later this team is going to have to let these young guys play.

Love that guy's channel. Need to find a way to get him on the Zone.

I think he will be a solid backup and rotation guy. But OP is correct outside of Garrett or maybe Thomas, no one else is going to be better at RDE.

After he was benched he came back and had 4 sacks over 5 games, more pressures too.

I like his motor, and he has a good first step. If he can improve on his last 5 games of the regular season he could be an 8-10 sack rotational guy. That'd be pretty huge.

You and OP are quickly making Mayowa go from solid rotational DE to vastly overrated.

He's not better than Derek Barnett. Not now, not tomorrow. Not next year. There's a lot of intriguing RE options like Watt, Takk, Basham, Bowser, etc. that all could be better than Mayowa right off the bat.

I like Mayowa and think he'll be good in a rotation. Barnett is better than him though, all day long. I do wonder how much better guys like Bowser, Watt, Rivers etc. would be than him though. That's why I think if Barnett doesn't fall in round 1 then the pick will likely be a DB.

The scary thing is this LM - the BEST RDE on this team right now (in terms of pure talent) that's NOT suspended is D. Moore. He's a classic case of his tape being washed out by all his immature antics. I remember watching him his Jr. year thinking this kid is a bonafide STUD!!!!!!!!! Then, he basically didn't show up mentally to the combine or his Pro-Day or his first few years in the league. If he ever grows up and decides football is still his passion, he could be really good. But, I know I'm reaching here..................

We don't know that for sure yet.

Thing is all we hear, a guy that can play in a rotation and a guy that can play inside and outside. I like Mayowa as he played later in the year. Irving too. But they need to ley these guys play, and play at one position. Let them learn and do a few things great. Not do 10 things just ok.

I don't want 10 DL that play well in a rotation. I want 4 guys that play ONE position great, and 6 guys that can play in a rotation great. Now several of them can be versatile, but not every single player. Keep them at one position.

Now Mayowa, he fits that, but let him play. Put Irving at end, and let him play. Put Crawford inside or outside, but let him play. Non of this moving around all the time stuff. I don't know how others feel about this, but it just irritates me they constantly do this.

The guy was a healthy scratch for several weeks in a row, either due to poor effort or just ineffectiveness. He bounced back well, but I'll take a number of ends over him

It seems like being a healthy scratch really motivated him.

The good thing about refusing to pay anyone on defense is that we have a bunch of guys fighting for their big contract. Benson could be in line for a huge pay day soon enough considering the lack of 4-3 pass rushing defensive ends around the league.

That sounds awesome , but unrealistic.

I love the breakdown and I understand the limitations for time on looking at film but he did not look at "every single play." He looked at "every single play accounted for Mayowa."

IOW, he looked at all the tackles and sacks but there were quite a few plays particularly earlier in the season where Mayowa did not use his length and technique, allowed blockers inside of him, and was dominated.

I can recall him getting absolutely crushed inside and surrendering contain with a wide lane outside. He doesn't have the strength to disengage when OL get their arms into their blocks.

It's why he was sat and why he had a renaissance when he started playing with extension when he came back.

The moral of the story here is that Mayowa can be a force when he uses his length to advantage.
