You absolutely are.

My argument: You are going to have trouble making a playoff run when you take a player such as Mazi in the 1st who does not possess the skillset to play at a high level in the NFL. (Might not even be a backup). My argument is strictly about taking players who should not have been taken due to skillset deficiences. Reggie Robinson, Eric Scott, Morris Claiborne, Tolbert, Sam Williams, Randy Gregory, Kelvin Joseph. All bad picks because they didn't have the skillset to succeed. Same w/ Mazi.

Mazi was obvious but most of the players you just mentioned were not so obvious. Lots of differing opinions on those picks, just like most picks in general. The cowboys have not drafted well over the last few years in general, and that’s the bigger issue. I think it’s pointless arguing over how obvious it was or not. Except we can all mostly agree on Mazi being fairly obvious.

Same thing when these fools passed up on TJ Watt but picked Taco Charlton instead.

Same thing when they passed up on Randy Moss but picked Greg Ellis instead.

What about when they picked Emmitt Smith over Rodney Hampton.
Troy Aikman over Tony Mandrich.

Our resident LSU fan at the time(Boutteman) was furious that we took the LSU player in MO. Before he ever played Boutte told us that he was no more than a product of having a mass of talent around him. Let's see, MO was slow, didn't turn all that well, didn't mirror WRs well.......what was it again that made him worth the 6th pick in the draft?

Whatever happened to that guy? I miss him.

They're frustrated with teams their agents claim are interested but don't end up picking them. I'd bet Randy Moss was probably told by his agent and the media that the Cowboys were keen on him, then Dallas goes and drafts Ellis instead, cue Randy's revenge game.

Yes with hindsight. Even Jimmy admitted he wasn’t sure about Emmitt. No one can be sure about any player coming out of the draft
