Bernard Berrian to Vikings

The Vikings signed Bernard Berrian to an undisclosed six-year contract.
Berrian could be overmatched if expected to be a true "number one" receiver, but he adds production and talent to a woeful passing game. Tarvaris Jackson now has two burners in Berrian and Sidney Rice, with Bobby Wade still likely to be active underneath. Expect Berrian's numbers to take a slight hit in Minnesota, where Jackson is still a major question mark.

The Vikings aren't going to go too far without a real QB.

Jackson showed a little improvement by the end of the year but I agree with you. He needs to get better.

A LOT better, IMO.

The Vikings need a QB. It's that simple, IMO.

Sidney Rice looks like a possible #1 to pair with Berrian but I wouldn't exactly call Rice a burner. I believe he ran a 4.55 at the combine.

Umm, from Grossman, Orton and Griese? I'm not sure that is a big drop off.

Berrian is a decent pick up for Minnesota, solidifying their status as a wild card contender. If they get a qb then they could challenge the Pack for the division.

He nearly put up 1,000 yards with a pair of jokes for QB's in Chicago. He'll probably do the same with a similar product in Minny.

Well his career just went down the drain.
Much worse can it get than Chicago? 7-9 team to an 8-8 team who have a more much solid running game to help a lame QB with the pass.

I'd take Grossman over Jackson and thats bad.

If they get Jackson out of there though he could all of a sudden be in one heck of a situation.

I think he is a very solid receiver but im just not feeling him or almost anyone else with Tavaris as their QB.

Im sorry this is just silly.

Jackson wsa horrible at the beginning of the year but when Peterson went down, Jackson stepped up and had several good games. Sure he was inconsistent but he bit as a puppy as Parcells would say.

There is no reason that a full offseason wouldnt see him dramatically improved next year which would be his thrid season. Lets not forget he only played 2 years at Alabama State as a QB. The fact that he is starting to show he can make plays at the NFL level is huge. Alabama State isnt exactly a football powerhouse to begin with.

Grossman has been in the league for 5 years and has demonstrated that he cannot read defenses. Jackson actually makes decent reads but his accuracy has been an issue. He worked at it and it improved in the second half of athe season. He was just as much of the reason that Minny became one of the hotter teams down the stretch last seasonas peterson especially considering Peterman was hurt.

With Peterson and that offensive line Jackson is in an excellent position to grow as a player and I actually look forward to see how they do next season. That front office is doing one heck of a job putting a team together.

While I am happy with the signing, the contract is a stupid one! At least he is a upgrade over Troy Williamson but not that much.

Money money money. Jackson might be the worst QB in football. But I guess that didn't matter to Berrian.

Naw, the worst quarterback goes to Rex Grossman although Jackson did get better at the end of the year, I am still not sold on him however

If the Vikes get a QB.....look out

You mean, somebody who might be available through FA? Somebody with starting experience? Somebody like Daunte Culpepper maybe?

;)
