So....if you are Owens and the Cowboys are looking to extend your contract.

25M over 3 years was a good deal. But Berrian's 6 years for 42 Million is pretty impressive. Especially when Berrian is not even close to Owens class in terms of talent.

If I am Owens, I'd be shooting for the moon here. And he has the leverage; we've seen our offense without him.

If I am Owens, I am asking for 30+Million/3 years, 12-15 guaranteed.

Should be interesting.

Haa it means nothing, they have NO QB.... :laugh2:

I am sorry but if you think a guy that only played QB for two years at a small school who managed to put up several 90+ QB rating games in his second year is no QB then you go ahead and think that. Jackson is coming along very nicely and I would be pleased with said progress if i was a Vikes fan.

Jackson started to play well down the stretch. Obviously, he needs to do it more consistantly, but he was a developmental QB when they drafted him. But they ended up throwing him to the wolves. But he started to show some signs towards the end....

The deal is for six-years and worth $42 million. The contract gives him a $16 million signing bonus. He'll get $23 million in the first three years.

what is randy moss going to get $15m a year?

$16/6 = $2.7 mil

23-16 = 7

7/3 = 2.3 mil

his cap hit should be 5 mil average for the first three years

42-23- 19

19/4 = 4.75

his cap hit will be 7.4 mill average over the last 4 years.

I dont see aht the big deal is or why this is a 'bad deal'. Cut him after 4 years and you should save money on the cap.

At some point people will begin to realize that you need to break down the contract before making judgements. This looks like a 4 to 5 year deal set to 6 so they could prorate the hit.

Im sorry this is just silly.

Jackson wsa horrible at the beginning of the year but when Peterson went down, Jackson stepped up and had several good games. Sure he was inconsistent but he bit as a puppy as Parcells would say.

There is no reason that a full offseason wouldnt see him dramatically improved next year which would be his thrid season. Lets not forget he only played 2 years at Alabama State as a QB. The fact that he is starting to show he can make plays at the NFL level is huge. Alabama State isnt exactly a football powerhouse to begin with.

Grossman has been in the league for 5 years and has demonstrated that he cannot read defenses. Jackson actually makes decent reads but his accuracy has been an issue. He worked at it and it improved in the second half of athe season. He was just as much of the reason that Minny became one of the hotter teams down the stretch last seasonas peterson especially considering Peterman was hurt.

With Peterson and that offensive line Jackson is in an excellent position to grow as a player and I actually look forward to see how they do next season. That front office is doing one heck of a job putting a team together.

Its really just a matter of who has the better trash.

I think they both suck tremendously but Grossman sucks a little less with far more pressure on his shoulders.

Like i said he is in his second year coming out of a small school where he only played 2 years.

What is evident is you know nothing about the guy and are basing everything off of his game against us early in the year.

in the last 6 games he put up 4 90+ QB ratings and 2 games over 100 which included the Giants while Peterson was down.

He sucks because he was young but then again most QBs not named Marino suck when they are young. He certainly played well down the stretch. Most QBs hit a point where the proverbial light goes on and it seems that his light may have just donw that. If he continues to work on his mechanics during the offseson then he should be able to build and grow on that strong finish.

Grossman ahs been in the league for 5 years and more than likely hit his ceiling. Jackson still has time to develop.

Not hardly. The guy has been nothing short of horrible.

He is in a perfect situation to succeed.

I do agree that with more time he could develop into a better player but I dont see it.

I dont think Tavaris really imrpoved as much down the stretch as you would like to believe either, but hey thats just me.

In my opinion he will be replaced within the next year and the beginning of next season at the latest.

Ill take statistical evidence. QB rating has the highest correlation to winning second to only point differential and those QB rating are no joke.

He only had one game after week 10 where he had a completion percentage below 60 after having horrible games of 50 and below previously. You really havent done your homework here. If you want to continue to think he sucks then go ahead.

Not to mention that Peterson went down for a period of time during that stretch. Hes just basing it off the one game hes ever seen him play.

Ok you go by your QB ratings then and i'll go by what I see.

He will be replaced as the starter by the beginning of next season and you will say "man that catch17 guy sure can read the future".

In one of his games he went 10 for 12 with a 132 QB rating. eeeeeeeeeew nice.

18 - 24 against detroit with 2 TD's and 1 pick. Not bad I guess.

Save this thread.. Keep it in your Private mail so when the time comes you will have your chance to say I told you so but that day will never come.

My big thing is TD to INT ratio.

I never really have gave a rats arse about QB ratings.

In the games you are talking about he only threw 6 TD's with 6 picks.

Some of that can be based on the their running game being able to drive them home I guess but the guy didn't even have a 300 yard passing game either.

When that team gets a legit QB they are going to be dangerous.

As long as Tavaris is their QB they aren't a worry.

A 1:1 TD:Int rating is bad? For a guy in the second year in the NFL and only 4th playing QB?

Akiman 2nd year 11:18
Staubach 2nd year 2:8
Terry Bradshaw 13:22
Marc Bulger 20 22
Matt Hasselbeck 7 8

Now certainly there are are players that have been lights out in their second years but all of the above had the advantage of 4 years in a college system before moving onto the NFL. They all had much better receivers as well.

And you may not care about QB rating but it still correlates better to wins than TD:Int rating.

WOW! I can't believe Berrian signed with the Vikings. I hope he was told that there would be a free Agent QB coming in, cause I don't see this working out at all.

Didn't Bernard atleast payed some kind of attention to what the Falcons WR's were going through with M. Vick. His stats will go way down! I hope it's worth the money man.

I've seen him play SEVERAL games and honestly I barely remember him even in the Cowboys game because they were trying so hard to not let him lose the game.

Either way his clock is about to run out and he'll be done.

I've heard the Vikings have offered a trade to the Texans for Sage Rosenfels. It would be an upgrade over Jackson probably, though not much of one.

I'd take Grossman in a heart beat over Jackson. Jackson had a few decent games but he had a whole lot more really bad games. He was terrible in every sort of way.
