Nick Martin in the 3rd.

We have looked for centers very late and in UDFA in the past.

Honestly, for less than 2m a year, we probably should have kept Berny.

Good as in where though? Like the 6th round? Because, we shouldn't be looking at backups or depth positions until about the 6th round unless its QB.

Agreed.

No 5th rounder.

And I can't see them taking a center/guard before that.

You know i'm never so sure anymore lol. Like I didn't see them going Chaz Green in the 3rd last year. But I agree with you. We don't have a 5th rounder....we have a grip of 6th rounders. That should be where we should look for depth guys even if they are projects. But you can't waste those 5 picks in the first 4 rounds.

I could particularly see this if somebody gives up a second for Leary.

well now we need a guard or tackle depending on the starting 5 next year. Green finished the year. It would help if he could contribute.

Id like to see him push Free, but at the same time thats hurts us from a depth perspective

I think the best combination involves moving either Martin or Collins to RT, Leary to the starting 5, and Free to the bench. His $5m for a bench role doesn't look quite so bad now.

Collins I think could be a very good OT. Martin however is pure OG for me and injury replacement RT. I actually Martin would be a down grade from Free at RT

Doubt it, we re-signed Brown as our swing tackle/backup. Have Green to backup Free this year, take over next. So that's our tackles for the season. Collins and Martin starting at guard, Leary is the backup right now - 2nd round tender. If no-one goes after him, I can see him wanting out next year. Fred beard is the center, so one of our currant guards needs to become the swing/backup center.
Only problem is if someone goes after Leary this year ...

Not surprising.

Also, on a similar topic, the idea of a cash floor is stupid. Why not just take off the cap entirely and let the efficient market work itself out?

I doubt the players would go for that. Small handful of teams may go nuts over a small handful of players, but for the rest of the league and the rest of the players things probably wouldn't change much.

I don't see how Brown resigning for likely the minimum affects the starting 5. Green did finish the year but he only was on the roster for 5 weeks. We only have 7 OL worth a roster at this point.

He was the swing tackle last year, and they re-signed him. That tells me he is either the "backup" swing behind Green this year. Or, Green was inactive every game (5) last year, so the coaches saw him and they want Brown as insurance ...

because the market is not really efficient

I hate the cap but I understand why it is there. Jones and Snyder would outspend everyone and still make millions

Interesting to see what we do inside.

Green was projected as someone who could potentially play all five spots.
