Best available at 10?

4 QB's (many insiders are projecting 4 QB's taken within the top 10)
3 WR's (Chase, Smith, Waddle)
1 TE (Pitts)
1 OT (Sewell)

That leaves 1 more spot: Slater, Farley/Surtain, Parsons
Although we won't take them, I’m going to guess that one of those 3 WRs and/or one of the 4 QBs make it to 10

If either positional group falls, it will give us some trade ammo. Teams looking for that receiver, would want to jump ahead of the Giants. We still have QB needy teams with the 49ers, Bears, Washington, Patriots, etc.

I like you brother. Let’s be happy that Cowboys don’t have to draft a quarterback at 10. Let’s hope one of these guys fall to 10 and we can rip a team off. I am not trading the pick unless you offer me next years first along with a second and third this season. Hopefully the Joneses can be that shrewd. I have my doubts.:rolleyes:

Yeah no kidding. The Cowboys would be absolutely screwed if they had to go QB at pick 10. I'm interested to see how these QBs work out. We'll get a better idea of how they go from college to pro. It's a different world now with the way college has evolved. But I'm just waiting for Brady to retire. He's becoming a pain in the ***.

Fwiw

Just two years ago, Pittsburgh traded up to 10 to get a linebacker (Devin Bush)
Trade ups in that range don't have to be for QBs

Some teams think he is. That what all the television scouts are saying. The guy is legit. Just because you don’t like him the Cowboys will consider him just like Parsons, Surtain, Farley and others.
Slater will be moved to OG. Arm length.

I know it is talking head driven but these rumors that Watson and Wilson are worth 4 first round picks are insane. If this is true five quarterbacks might go in the top 10 because you don’t want to waste the draft capital. I still can’t believe Wince/Wentz got a conditional first and Cam got 14 million.

Parsons for me. I think he's the best defensive player in the draft. Why would a team that desperately needs help on defense pass on the best defensive player in the entire draft?
Because there are much better offensive players that will be on the board.

If Pitts is on the board and we pass on him for ANY defensive player Ill consider that a big fat fail.
If Pitts is off the board I only do a very small trade down. I want to still be in position to take a player projected in the top 15.

It depends. You know the Packers left tackle has short arms and he is considered the best in the league.
Possible, but that's only one exception. Arm length is quite often the difference between succeeding at OLT. Many many players could not. Scherff, Just Pugh, there's a couple who were moved inside due to arm length. Our own Zach Martin.

Its probably worth its own thread (somebody...Bueller?) but there are a handful of players that could surprise and get taken in that 9-12 range.
The USC OT, Vera-Tucker, comes to mind.
Or maybe one the good pass rushers (Roussou, etc)
Or maybe even Mac Jones

Agree 100%. A GM would have to be a moron to give that much up. It's all noise. And yeah, I'm a bit surprised Cam got that. But let's see who the Patriots draft. I'm thinking it's Mac Jones.

Zach could play tackle and be good. Slater is basically a more athletic Martin. Make the offensive line great again. Maybe Williams can play center. My dream offensive line. Tyron and Slater/Sewell on the left side, Martin and Collins on the right. Best line in the league.
