CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
Thanksgiving 1974 for me in Glens Falls, NY, Whole family there and I was 13...only Dallas fan in the house (all Giants fans). I won 25 cents from my Uncle Billy (To this day, we still bet 25 cents on every Dallas/Giants game) as Clint aired it out to Drew, happiest moment in my football fan life that I will never forget. I screamed for an hour, really annoyed everyone.

It means more to me than any championship ever (best memory, any way) because in front of my family..MY TEAM...did not let me down.

1992 NFC Championship Game, because it exorcised so many demons from my youth. I found it more satisfying than the Super Bowl two weeks later.

Have to ditto this. I was 12 when Montana ripped out my heart.
The 11 year wait for redemtion seemed like an eternity.
I had never watched a game with such intensity.
Not the players, I'm talking about my own intensity.
At the time, winning that game ment more than life itself.
I was on pins and needles the whole second half.

That slant Harper took for 70 sent me through the roof.

Wasnt that Larry Cole?

Actually, it was Lilly and Cole. Lilly was probably the only one credited with the sack.

Pat Toomay:

"Like a surgeon removing a benign wart" -- that's how one press-box wag characterized the Dallas Cowboys' clinical dismemberment of the Miami Dolphins. One play in particular exemplified the Cowboys' skill and determination. In the middle of the second quarter, Miami quarterback Bob Griese faded to pass, but here came Bob Lilly, All-World defensive tackle. Pivoting, Griese rolled right, only to confront the lumbering end, Larry Cole. Reversing field yet again, Griese dodged this way and that toward his own goal line. But Cole and Lilly were relentless in their criss-cross pursuit. Lilly dropped Griese at the Miami 8-yard line for a 29-yard loss.

For veterans like Lilly and Cole, the victory was sweet. It atoned for six frustrating years of big-game losses.

I would have to say the bomb Aikman threw to Harper in the '92 NFC Championship game. The Niners were coming back, we were pinned down deep, and Jimmy just showed a balls move and threw a bomb. Even better that it was at Candlestick.

Commentary from the 50,000-watt tower of truth, linear negotiation and unbridled belief in the American Way of life. Next up, Tim's Folk Hour, Car Shop Talk and Farmers Branch Today.

C, that was the turning point. Dynamite play. But I thought it was Kmart, but I guess Harper was it.
Hey, Boys shoved a fist into the 49ers collective throat on that play.
I have a video of the game (with the express approval of the NFL) As the Cowboys celebrated, the sideline cam showed a 49er official walking away from the sidelines, his hands on his head. :lmao2:

TALK ABOUT THE CATCH!!!

Great game. The tone was set early on with hard hitting on that crybaby RB Ricky Watters who coughed up the ball.
That game put the Cowboys on the road to the dynasty and that play certainly looms large in that effort.
If you ever have occasion to see it, I mean if you fellers are not glued to the Zone for just one night, it's a thrilling game.
Shortly after the play in question, there appeared a rainbow over the Cowboys side of the field. Great sight.

Too bad the NFL and the 49ers do not remember The Catch II.
I sure do.
:laugh1:

I'd say the day Jimmy Johnson replaced Tom Landry was right up there for me.

Glory be when Jimma arrived in town.
That Landry was beloved but he just didn't have it anymore. And old Tom could not fatham that.
On the bright side of thigns, Landry got his pink slip on the golf course. Most of us just get it in the loading dock or after the noon meeting.

Wish Jimma had stayed. We woulda had at least two more Super Bowls by his will alone.:D

Easy......

1992 NFC Championship.

I thought we'd be good in 92, but I thought we were still one year away from being dominant.

I remember Young hitting Rice on a long TD on one of the first plays of the game and thinking, "Well, we'll get em next year...." Fortunately there was a flag on the play (and it was the right call no matter what Young says), and we escaped.

I remember the score being 24-20 late in the fourth. The Niners had just scored, and momentum seemed to be swining their way.

I remember thinking, "if we can only take three or so minutes off the clock, they may not have time to score".......Well, we didn't run time off the clock, we went for the whole enchilada......

Alvin Harper raced nearly 70 yards to ice the game. I was going absolutely bonkers as he ran down the sideline!

I had cheered for the Cowboys since I first watched them play in person in1981. I had never known what it was like for my favorite team to be the best. After that day, I knew.

"Next years champions were here a year early" :D

My favorite moment is Larry Cole-related: shoestring tackle on Riggins behind the line on 4th and one. Anyone else remember this?

I do, vaguely.

One of my all-time favorite moments was Larry Cole rolling around in celebration of a very unlikey Staubach led come-from-behind playoff victory against the 49ers. (I believe it was the same day as another famous comeback victory -- the Steelers vs. Raiders and the immaculate reception).

Emmitt Smith ripping off his helmet after scoring against the Bills ... completing a drive in which he handled the ball on almost every play. He looked like the incredible hulk. :)

All of the moments already mentioned are among my personal favorites.

Here is one no one has talked about and that has meaning to me. Back in the days before directv and even before cable tv came to my little town, I would sometimes be forced to listen to the games on the car radio. It would come in from a distant station and would fade in and out.

But this was 1987 and Dallas was playing the Patriots in Foxboro. I was driving my Pontiac T-1000 all over the yard to find the best reception spot. It was a tight game. My mom brought me a sandwich out to the car. The game went into OT. Dallas had the ball on their own 40 yard line.

White handed off to Walker and I heard Sham make the call. Walker broke free and streaked down the field. Touchdown! I jumped out of the car and yelled "Touchdown!!!" Later people all around the neighborhood said they heard me yelling. That was just pure joy.

I gotta say even today when I see that Giant game where Emmitt busted his shoulder and you see him get up time and again holding it. You know he felt every punch, pound and fall. I get emotionally proud when I see that. I have never seen such couragous behavior in my life. That is my best cowboy moment. The sheer determination of one Emmitt Smith propelling his team to greatness with one arm. I almost cry sometimes when i see that, it really hits me that hard. Nothing will bring out the Cowboys pride at seeing clips of that game.

2nd greatest was when Landry was lifted off the field after beating Denver. That was my first superbowl win that I saw with my own eyes. Man, thats a prideful moment as well.

Yep...fantastic play.

It's the reason that Staubach had his chance to hit Hill. If Cole doesn't stop Riggins the Commanders would have run all the time out.

Yeah. That was quite a game. A highlight of an otherwise lackluster season.

The other highlight was conceiving my daughter. Although that particular event didn't involve the Cowboys - it may well have happened during the weekend of Herschel's OT run. No car was involved. I don't think the neighbors heard me yelling. But I digress ....
