Best Draft Preview Publication???

The best draft preview is not a publication. It's called the NFL Network. It started with complete coverage of the NFL scouting combine. Their "Path To The Draft" show is nothing short of awesome. They also have coverage of college pro days. The one on LSU was very good. As an draftnic from waaaaaaaay back, the information I get from the NFL Network is far better and more current than any draft publication. In fact, when I was at the book store the other day I scanned a few and looked at the price and thought NO WAY!!!
I agree 100% about the coverage on NFL Network. Shortly after buying a copy of Lindy's Pro Football Draft at BooksAMillion, I started watching much more draft coverage on NFLN. I haven't picked up that mag since. The cornerbacks show on Path To The Draft was outstanding, btw.

The magazines are worthless because they come out way too early. Get an online pass to a site like NFL Draft Scout -- they're the same people that put out the Lindy's magazine, but their online information is updated daily.

How much is the pass?

I have PFW draft guide and Today I just bought The Sporting News guide and it looks better.

I usually get the TSN issue, but man,if they are ranking Kolb ahead of Quinn,I may need to look elsewhere to satisfy my draft jones.
Whatever happened to Ultimate Sports?
They had a nice NFL preview issue every year.

in all reality

none, as they are published before the Combine and Pro Day workouts, so someone like Jason Hill, they talk about his lack of speed, even though he ran a 4.36, so he obviously isn't slow, and since they publish them before the Combine and Pro Days, if an unknown has great workouts then and becomes a sleeper, they usually aren't mentioned in the rags, so on Draft Day, when you're flipping throug the mag, and someone like Paul McQuistan, or Jason Hatcher, goes in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, you say "who? they weren't in the mag"

but w/ saying that, I like TSN's Draft Guide, nice formatting, making everything clear and conchise, plus it's the one I've always gone w/ since I can remember

Have you tried TheHuddelReport.com ? It's only 20 bucks for the entire year. They really are a great year round site and Drew Boylhart is pretty good. Their mocks are second only to Goose.

That's why the online sites are much better. As stasheroo said, the PFW was the standard among draftniks untill JB's death, then they went down hill. I've been getting Ourlads since 1987 when we took Noonan and it's a pretty good book. Something to look at on the throne :) I bought the sporting news and ESPNs book last year off the newsstand and they were typical low standard stuff.

I've looked at the site before, but never bought it. I'll try it out.

That's what's nice about holding onto them for a few years. To see who's right and who's wrong.

Ryan Leaf was once highly-ranked too.

As was Joey Harrington.

Neither worked out too well.

There's plenty of speculation and a good bit of luck involved in the draft.

the thing I like to do is pick up an old edition of TSN and see how they did on the positional ratings: QBs have a B+ grade, etc

I get "Ourlads" even though some consider it crap... right Alexander? :)

Well if he considers it crapola.......I would use it just out of spite...In fact I'm ordering it right after this post. :laugh2:

i'd say espn insider has the best draft info. its constantly updated. about the only thing thats good about espn insider.

Pro Football Weekly

The others don't even have college stats.
