I personally consider "Christmas movies" to be movies in which Christmas is the main (or a main) theme of the movie. If it the plot occurs because it's Christmas, it's a Christmas movie. I know Die Hard happened during a Christmas party, but it could have been a birthday party, or many other events, and nothing would have been significantly different.

Ditto here ... Die Hard is no different than Lethal Weapon - which was also had only seconds of Xmas theme - but it wasn't all about Xmas.

A Christmas Story is a comedy, as told from the now adult, about his childhood, the year he asked for a BB rifle for Christmas.
A Christmas Carol is the Scrooge story, with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

you'll shoot your eye out.
GREAT movie.

a christmas carol is based on the charles dickens classic tale about scrooge.

the 3 godfathers is a john wayne western set around christmas.
3 cowpokes find a baby and decide if they want to raise the baby or find the baby a home.
excellent story.
just as john wayne's star was rising.
highly recommend.
