I've been doing some propane grill shopping. I know two people who both have DCS grills, and I must say, they are the finest grills I've ever seen. The problem is the price. These bad boys run between $3000 and $6000.

I can't quite describe the quality of these grills though, they are phenomenal. If any of you have them, you know what I'm talking about.

But what else is out there? What do you have, and would you recommend it?

I bought a 3 burner propane grill from BBQs Galore 12 years ago and with a little maintenance here and there it is still going strong today. I would recommend checking out their line of grills. The Webers have also been discussed here frequently and are good quality and built to last.

Ducane (about 4 years old - I think Weber owns them now if I'm not mistaken) is what I have - does fine for me. Cost around $400.00 or so. Don't need a $3000.00 grille to cook a good steak. I have cooking bricks over the burners to maintain a consistent cooking temp. on the surface, also helps w/ flare up.

My dad has 2 different propane grilles, plus a large smoker.

Holland Grille - Has a drip tray, no open flame, great for chicken and fish. Or any type of slow cooking you want.

TEC (Infrared grille) - for steaks. 3 minutes a side, sears both sides, and steaks are perfect. Pretty much a steak only grille though...

I've purchased one Webber Grill and it's the only grill I've ever owned. I still use it 1-3 times a week. I bought it (Weber Genesis Silver / Discontinued) on-sale at Home Depot for $260.

HA !! Funny.

Seems like there are a lot of weber fans on here.
Yeah there are. And everything I read says they are great grills. I'm just having a hard time making myself spend the $600-700 right now.

Don't look at it as a single $600 payment. Look at it as an $600 investment over the span of at least 10 years. Would you pay $60/year for a reliable workhorse of a grill? Or would you rather spend $200-$300 every few years, buying subpar grills?

I'm going to get there it's just that I have swimming pool, car and tooth problems to fix. :D

well i have a jenn air older grill i just need to fix back up and use. i've got a portable weber and about to pay $460 for a custom smoker that's built to last, not the acadamy crap.

most of the home depot stuff is garbage. pick up the lid and fee how solid it is. if it feels "hollow" i avoid it and giggle at the people who buy it.

I can honestly say I've never thought much about grills one way or the other, I just wanted cheap. But after going through a few of them, they really are crappy.

I'm not a fan of weber. I always thought they were pretty shoddy. Either that, or I need to quit using that DCS. Its like the Maybach of grills.

Thats the first time I've ever heard someone refer to a Webber as shoddy.

I got an awesome grill from Sams about five years ago. We grill about three nights a week and it has always cooked things up to perfection without a single problem. Best grill I've ever owned.

:lmao2: I guess I need my coffee before I type! It was just a Sams Club generic brand (Members Mark?). I had to retire my Webber because it was falling apart. The generic grill is flipping awesome.

I will drink coffee now.

I just use a cheap-o $50 charcoal grill. You can find 'em anywhere and as long as the lid closes and the vents open and close, it'll burn charcoal just fine and cook a nice steak.

That's probably not what you're looking for though I'd imagine. :D
