Best Instrumental?

Well, this is sorta the category of 'single instrumental that got captured'. Because you can be almost sure that the best ones got away, living only in memory.

Best instrumentalist/soloist instead? I feel that Richard Thompson is the best guitarist around, possibly ever. Both electric and acoustic, he spans a gigantic variety of styles. And here's some examples why. Oh, and every solo he does is an improv...

Though John Mclaughlin can make a great technical case as well.

Hmmn...Mclaughlin...and Paco de Lucia...

I had totally forgotten about this song. It was a theme song for something at one time but I can not remember what. Maybe for late night movies on WGN out of Chicago? Or an actual movie? Totally awesome tune. :)
