Heh heh... Saw your sig... Meant to talk about these guys.

These guys were amazing. The guitar harmonies adrian and Dave, what a combo.... the bass, well the bass of steve harris... He was out there playing bass like a guitar... Had his own riffs instead of just background filler.... Nico McBrain - Awesome! Then there is bruce, Dianno was nice but Bruce was on another level. Listen to the scream at the end of run to the hills. "Run

Their rise started with "running free" and from killers album - murders in the rue morgue.
They showed they were going to be a force when Bruce came on for number of the beast album.

It is their best work. It's #1
Revelations is awesome!
Die with your boots on.... The whole album rocks!

Beast is so close that's it's 1a for me.
The prisoner... I'm not a number... I'm a free man...

Being a maiden fan in the 80s and jones'n for more maiden... I enjoyed powerslave and somewhere in time....

After that album I go black. I can't really listen to them after that.

So... Sam.... That's were you are wrong! Haha!

I saw them in Nassau coliseum in 1986 with ACCEPT - get your balls to the wall

Been meaning to go the last couple of years. Gotta get to another show!

You got to see Udo and Wolf............Sweet!

As much as I loved Powerslave and Piece of Mind. Number is still my favorite. Hallowed still gives me chills when I hear it.

CSB/ Met the guys backstage during a tour with Scorpions. Way back in the day. Pretty cool dudes. Dave Murray was hitting on a local DJ's girlfriend the whole time. :)
But Klaus Meine was by far the nicest out of all. Very down to earth. Wouldn't stop talking. Hard to understand with his thick accent though! /CSB

Here is a cool bonus...Bruce with Rob.

There is a live version out there that even has Geoff Tate singing with them but Rob's pants in that video...o_O

I think they should do an Iron Priest and Judas Maiden tour where they just sing each other's songs. Just for the hell of it.

Look at my avatar

My favorite Maiden album is Powerslave for the sole reason Rime Of the Ancient Mariner is on it.

Gotta say it's a tie for me between Beast and Piece Of Mind. I saw them a few times in the early 80's and got crushed during the Beast show in San Antonio. We had great seats, 4th row, just to the right of center and the place was rocking. During a drum solo, he started throwing a few drumsticks into the crowd when I spotted one spinning right towards me. Everybody is standing on their chairs, I see the stick coming and yelled out "I got it!" when I lost it momentarily in the stage lights. Next thing I know, everyone is pouncing on me, the whole area around me collapses to the ground, I had the stick in one hand for a split second and felt go off my other hand, but couldn't secure it. I was on the bottom of a massive pile of people and chairs, took a couple of minutes to get back up, I was pretty dazed and banged up. My shirt got ripped, had a knot on my head and never even saw what happened to the drumstick.

Piece of Mind gets my vote. Revelations might be my favorite Maiden song.

"O God of Earth and Altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
But take away our pride."
(G. K. Chesterton English Hymnal)

Just a babe in the black abyss,
No reason for a place like this,
The walls are cold and souls cry out in pain,

An easy way for the blind to go,
A clever path for the fools who know
the Secret of the Hanged Man-the smile on his lips.
The light of the Blind-you'll see,
The venom that tears my spine,
The Eyes of the Nile are opening-you'll see.

She came to me with a serpent's kiss,
As the Eye of the Sun Rose on her lips,
Moonlight catches silver tears I cry,
So we lay in the black embrace,
And the Seed is sown in a holy place
And I watched, and I waited for the dawn.

The light of the Blind-you'll see,
The venom that tears my spine,
The Eyes of the Nile are opening-you'll see.

Bind all of us together,
Ablaze with Hope and Free,
No storm or heavy weather
Will rock the boat you'll see.

The time has come to close your eyes
And still the wind and rain,
For the one who will be King
Is the Watcher in the Ring,
It is You
It is You

Yes. The lyrical mastery is awesome!

I still haven't actually listen to it.

I tried initially, but the Youtube versions were screwed up speed wise. I will have to take another run at listening to it.

btw, Seventh Son is still the best. *******s.
