A quick google tells me albondigas are meatballs.
I'm going to have to write all of those things down and see if I can't find them at some Mexican Restaurant up here. I may try a certain place this weekend and see where it gets me.

Barbacoa is a pit cooked pig, lamb, or goat. It is absolutely succulent.

Birria is a type of meat that is cooked almost in a stew. It is shredded and juicy and spicy. There's a place here that puts the birria on tacos and it is delightful.

I am pretty sure you know what menudo is. Many hate it. It is anything but bland though. People here who have hangovers, eat menudo.

Chicharrones are a meaty pork rind. Not like the ones in a potato chip bag either. Sometimes they are called cracklings by gringos. Very tasty.

Cocido is a type of stew. I looked it up and it is actually from Spain, but I've had it in many Mexican restaurants. I've had cocido with chicken, pork, boiled eggs, corn on the cob, cabbage, potatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro, and carrots. It isn't even close to bland. But in fairness it is also not Mexican. My bad on that.

So don't blast anyone in the sack for that one.

This is making me very hungry, and I can tell you with complete honesty, Menudo to me always meant some boy band from back when... Just looked it up: Tripe soup. I think I'll keep that one off the list.

Real Mexican food you CAN find here, but thats the problem. Real Mexican food is bland. It's Tex-Mex that is good. The main difference between Mexican food and Tex-Mex is Tex-Mex has a lot more flavor.

All Mexican restraunts here are bland, but thats all I can get for my Mexican food fix.

Mexican food is anything but bland. It is full of flavor. You've clearly never had real Mexican food then, as you claimed. I spent my summers in Mexico until I was 16 years old because I'm half and most of my family is down there.

Mexican food is not bland. I grew up on the Mexican border and have eaten in Mexico all my life. I don't know what crap they are feeding you, but it isn't real Mexican food if it is bland. Probably some bad British version, because their food is bland.
