I just saw that. Then I get on here and I read that SI is saying a player could be included in the Pacman deal. Couldn't be RW they are discussing, could it? I have no idea of the salary cap ramifications of such a move.

Henry refused to make the same move while in Cleveland.

Times and attitudes change..but just something to think about.

Wasn't his best year for Cleveland at Safety?

You do realize that JJ would never approve of that..Roy has done alot for this team, in the past years.

Thinking like that leads to one thing and one thing only.....LOSING!!
It's not about what you have done in the past....the NFL is not a high school reunion where we can all get together and sing cumbaya....its about winning now!

Yes. He led the NFL in picks with either 9 or 10 (pretty sure it was 10) his rookie year while playing FS.

Roy is going nowhere, you are looking at $7 to $8 mill cap hit, per Mickey, if Roy is traded or released.

We are only about $4 mill under cap.

See the problem?

As far as I know...he took some snaps at safety his rookie and 2nd year...before becoming full time corner.

It may have been the salary structure that prompted him to insist on corner...but it's all moot considering I found some articles where he did entertain being moved to corner last year 'if that's what they wanted to do.'

Of course this was after gaining his CB money.

What I don't like about Henry to safety is he can't tackle. I have seen him miss more tackles than anyone on this Defense the last few years. Not sure I want him back there playing FS.

Any scenario where Roy is on the field less will enhance our chances of winning. He cant cover, he takes poor angles in pursuit of a tackle, really, he doesnt do anything well. Sorry, this is the truth. And to the argument that "Roy has done alot for this team the last few yrs"....like what? He hasnt honored us by staying in shape, he apparently makes no effort to gel with the rest of the defense, and he pouts like a toddler with the media when he gets burned rather than stepping up like the man and the leader that we thought he was when we locked him up long term. I think, if it werent for the cap hit, he would already be gone. But regardless, I dont see him being here after this yr.

As far as Henry, if we do that, it would be done with the understanding that we do need to draft a CB high, so that he can be our nickel behind jones/newman. I think this is gonna happen anyway. Sure, Roy will start, but on 3rd and 12, I really dont think you will see Roy on the field. This actually did happen a little but last yr. Given our probable cutting of Williams after this yr, and the fact that we cant re-sign Hamlin (see Gibril Wilson dollars) I think Kenny Phillips would make alot of sense too.

1. Trade for Pacman and make him the starter opposite TNew.
2. Move Henry to FS.
3. Move Hamlin to SS.
4. Move Roy to LB.
5. Draft Justin King in the 4th to play nickle.

No way I move Hamlin...I actually think he'd play FS better than Henry would, and it's the most important of the two S positions.

I want the 3-4 best CB's on the team to still be playing CB, not safety which then weakens the CB position...We won a ton of games last year with the worst our SS has played in some time...no way am I ready to just give up on him...he'll be the starter again this year.

For all his faults, Roy Williams is not why we lost that playoff game; the offense didn't get the job done.

Yeah that defense giving up a TD in barely a minute and a half, right before half time, after our offense went on that griding, time consuming, drive had absolutely nothing to do with the loss.

Please.

When will people here, and everywhere, stop trying to put all the loss on one unit, or player? There are SEVERAL things that cost us that game and they weren't all on any one player or any one group of players.

The defense could have played that final part of the first half much better. Patrick Crayton could have caught either of the 2 third down passes he dropped. He could have stayed on his route with 15 seconds less and caught the game winner. Fasano could have caught that TD that hit him right in the chest on second down in the third quarter. Romo could have thrown a much better ball to T.O. on the very next play after the Fasano drop. The refs could have been a little less stupid with their penalty flags and realized that the intentional grounding they hit Romo with in the 4th was, in fact, not IG.

Lots of factors.

Best secondary would be

RCB - Newman
LCB - Pacman
Nickel - DRC
Dime - Henry

FS - Hamlin/Watkins
SS - Williams/Henry

Kinda agree, but i think you are a little off imo.

RCB - Newman
LCB - Pacman
Nickel - DRC

FS - Henry (or Kenny Phillips)
SS - Hamlin (see hamlin projects as a better SS than would say Henry, who is more of a coverage safety, which the FS is deseigned to be)
