I highly recommend the Blue Ox Tavern as a place to go get a simple, not too expensive meal away from the bigger casinos. The food is good, the atmosphere is too. It's on Sahara.

I personally always liked the Imax Theater at Caesar's Palace.

Circus Circus used to have a great buffet with delicious prime rib. I haven't been there in 20 years so I am not sure how it is now.

The Mirage is my favorite place to gamble. I have no idea why, I just seem to be luckier there.

The show I would most like to see is the Cirque de Soliel. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I love that stuff.

Garth Brooks would be next on my list. I have seen him twice and he is unreal in concert.

If you want a magic show Penn & Teller are the kings. Cris Angel is popular, but Dick Arthur is the most unheralded guy out there and his show is awesome. < That is per my brother-in-law who is a magician.
there are different cirque du soliel, which do you want to see and why if you don't mind me asking? i'll check out the blue ox, thanks

It wouldn't really matter to me which one. All of those people amaze me.

Their burgers are angus beef. I liked the North Woods. I also really liked the Golden Gopher beef sandwich.

I highly recomend two imported restaurants, Smith and Wollensky (NY), on the strip, for a great steak and Joe's Stone Crabs (MIAMI), on the Forum Shops.

Can't go wrong with either one.

Circus Circus is an extreme disappointment, now. I tried their buffet twice, first about ten years ago and then again about 5 years ago. The food is okay, but the atmosphere completely kills it.

When I was there last year, the hotel just looks run down from the outside now. It's now a bit away from the strip, surrounded by construction and run down buildings. The Sahara had just been closed at that point, so it was a very eerie, odd feeling being in that part of the strip. Once you head back towards the strip past the Wynn, it starts to feel much better.

Buffets are a tad more expensive now in the main hotels, but often times worth it, in my opinion. The best breakfast buffet I've had was at Paris. It was fantastic, but get there early.

just found out I'll be headed to vegas this summer and was wondering if anybody has done anything particularly fun that isn't in a travel guide and where the best places to eat might be. My GF wants to take her dad to a really nice dinner for his B day/fathers day.

so far we plan on a trip to the hoover dam, zipline down freemont, planning to see a cirque du soleil(not zoomanity because it is all nude and with GFs father so, yeah), go to the pawn stars place, and we plan to stay at the MGM signature.

I lived out there for 8 1/2 years and I had an awesome time.

There's a ton of great places to eat, owned or run by chefs you've seen on TV. You mat want to check out the Vegas.com site to narrow down your choices based on what you're looking for (i.e. price, location, etc.).

Something I learned while in Las Vegas is that a ton of cheap/free stuff goes on all the time, you just got to be wise to it. Here's a site that could help you this summer (BTW, don't click this at work unless you won't get in trouble for girls in bikinis on your screen):

http://www.spyonvegas.com/

That site will tell you where free concerts and open bars are at this summer. I used it while in Vegas, and it was awesome. They're almost a lock to have a few events at the Hard Rock pool at night, which is usually pretty fun. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

If you're into crazy rides, check out the Stratosphere. At that height, even simple rides can get your heart pounding. Most people like the "Big Shot" but there's a few other rides that they've added in the past few years that also seem to be popular.

I'd write more, but I have to go to work. I hope you have a great time out there.

I was going to say, how can you find any decent pair for under $40 unless you are getting crap like Wranglers.

What's wrong with Wranglers? I've been wearing them all my life...good jeans IMO

I've never paid over $40 for jeans. I can usually find a few pair of Levi's at our outlet for $15-20. They last me a good year.

Damn, even my cheap jeans were at least $60 at American Eagle.

They are made of denim. Paying ridiculousness mounts for denim is ridiculousness in itself. The funny thing is, Levi's denim quality of say their 501 or 505 are 50x better than those $100+ fashion jeans. Anyone who pays $200 for jeans, tell them I've got a card board box I want to sell them for $7,000. They must be sucker enough to buy it.

I don't know, my Rock Revival jeans feel better and look better than the old Levi 505s I used to wear when I was less aware.

I also know my $55.00 Lacoste white tshirt feels better than a Hanes $5.00 one.

At the same time, I do it because I can.

It's like paying thousands of dollars per year to have my son in a private club for hockey when I could get by for $500.00 at a local city organization. I do it because I can.

Ask yourself, when you travel, do you stay at say a Hilton or a Motel 6? They both provide you with a bed, shower and tv. Why pay more, because you can.

T-shirt? You can get $10 t-shirts that feel awesome. I don't wear Hanes t-shirts either.

Yeah. You can jump off the George Washington Bridge too, when are you planning to do that?

Spending more money than something is worth is stupid. The MacBook Pro is a really nice laptop, but to get one spec out the way I want would cost me over $2,000. That just isn't going to happen when I can get one just like it that isn't a Mac for around a grand less.

I drive a Mercedes, but I pay less than $500 a month for it. If I had to pay retail, I wouldn't have bought it.

Remember something is worth what you will pay for it.

I bought my wife a Mother's Day gift, a Ralph Lauren cardigan, it was $100.00, sure I could have bought her the same for 1/3 that, but the more expensive one was worth more to me so I bought it.

Something's worth is based on what you will pay for it.

Yeah, and I wouldn't pay that so it isn't worth anything to me. Give me my jeans and t-shirts. I will die a happy man.

but what kind of jeans and tshirt?

I see you as a True Religion jeans and Ed Hardy Tshirt kind of guy.

and of course, what is your wife worth to you? you always say everything so how then is $100.00 too much for a cardigan for her (ducking as I dart the missive coming in response)
