so one of the narratives around Mo and Carr is that they were brought in for Rob Ryan's press man scheme and were poor fits for the Tampa 2 of rod. Personally I just don't think either are very good but that's another story. For the sake of argument let's say it's true. Presumably then we are looking for corners that excel in zone coverage. So the question is zoners, out of the possible first round corners of Conley, White, king and the kid from Colorado, who is the best in zone coverage?

I think Awuzie is probably the most polished out of those guys right now. So i'd go

1) Awuzie
2) Adoree / Conley
4) King

I haven't looked as much at White so I didn't grade him. I think Adoree has the potential to be the best.

That is a difficult question to answer. Playing zone is mostly about mental ability. There was no physical reason that Claiborne couldn't play Zone, but it was difficult for him mentally.

Some big CBs can overcome limited quickness by playing press-man, those types are not what you want in Zone.

If the Cowboys play more zone, Marinelli will be even more adamant about the CBs playing well against the run. A guy like Adoree Jackson might be good in zone due to his quickness, but his likely limitations playing the run would be a problem for Marinelli.

Draft Awuzie at #28 and he can play zone, man and be good against the run.

Watch Adoree vs the run.

I agree on adore, hes my #1 cb.

Tankersley and Tabor are made for zone imo. A Jax, Awuzie & White can excell at everything even Slot imo!

Whites arms are longer than Richard Shermans for what its worth so its like he has the agility of being 5'11 but the reach of being 6'3. Hes the sure thing to me.

I like Quincy Wilson as a zone corner but none of these corners interest me enough to select at 28, considering you'll get a very similar player at 60.

I think both Kazee and King could excel in a zone system and we wouldn't have to spend a one on either of them.
Came into mention Kazee. He's a safety at CB in run support. And with excellent ball skills? I'm all over him in the 4th, and wouldn't be mad if we took him at 92.

We may have to take him at 92 (that's if he's still there). He's been steadily climbing the boards since the combine (that's if you believe in all the mocks and projections since then).

The more I see things regarding Awuzie, the more I love him...especially after that piece I saw on NFL Network the other day...heady kid...love him
His game footage is solid. He would be the Safest pick at #28 but also has a high upside.

I have started to look for video on him, and what I have seen impresses me...this guy is in the RKG mold...right now, he is amongst my favorite pre-draft players...let's see how things fall thursday night...but, even if Dallas trades out of the first to Cleveland or SF, then I could still see him being that pick on day 2

get good players and play to their strengths......not a difficult concept

I'd give our third to Seattle for Sherman and take a DE and S with our first two picks....
Basham or Barnett or Bowser or Willis and one of
King, Williams, Jones, or Evans

As much as I can't stand him, Sherman would improve our defense more and faster than any player that will be available when we pick

Rasul Douglas is another zone corner I would love to have on this team.

Desmond King is the best pure zone corner and has been for two years. It's really not even close, either.

He is a scrappy dude and has terrific ball skills.
