Better bye week idea

I hate the current by System Washington had a bye after week 4 Dallas after week 5 it's way too early for that and then all season long you have teams with different records.

I think around week 9 half the teams should take there by the next week week 10 the rest of the teams take their bye and it's all over in 2 weeks.

and all the teams get a late-season by when they really need it.
What do you think?

Usually I'd agree but I think this bye is perfect timing for Dallas. They need to regroup and figure a lot of stuff out quick if they want to do anything this season. The hard part of the schedule is starting after the bye.

too many teams off at the same time would replay hurt the ratings even more. LOl...

I do not like bye weeks at all. But the current format is worse than what it used to be. There are some weeks there are only 2 teams, and I think this year 3 weeks where there are 6 teams off. That is too many at one time.

It used to be 4 teams a week, and I think they were spread out more evenly. Now you have byes going through week 11. I believe it used to be they did not go past week 9 or 10. But with 32 teams now, I guess you still need 7 weeks to get them all in. They can have 5 weeks of 4, and 2 weeks of 6. And make it on a rotating schedule too.

Say the non playoff teams get the byes later in the year to help with getting players healthy, giving them a better chance of healthy players for the playoff run, if they improved enough.

Give the playoff teams the earlier byes.

As a fan, I love the idea!

I doubt the networks do though.

I'd imagine when the networks bid, they do so knowing only a small number of markets are out of commission on any given week. If the byes were all crammed into two weeks, half the nation is closed for business on those weeks, with another quarter (home markets) risking blackouts.

Sales of air time for those two weeks would not be good making the entire package less attractive, unless the league could guarantee a marquee match-up for national air. Late into the season, who knows what that match-up will actually become. Many would have nominated Cowboys v. Giants before the season started.

I like your idea. But two things that will prevent that from ever happening is the NFL's International Series games and Thursday Night Football.

Any team playing in England typically needs their bye after that game. And with the year-long Thursday night schedule, some teams will unfairly get to start their bye week sooner than the others.

I not only have our beloved Cowboys on their bye, but Notre Dame is off as well.....I may get some work done around the house/yard....

Yeah. Better to get drunk.

Oh, that is a certainty, just likely after said yardwork...but, it is gloomy out, so that is likely the impetus to stop me from working, and that darned kink in my neck, and I don't have gas in the lawn mower, (what else), and it could rain by tomorrow, and.....

In this years game between Baltimore and Jacksonville, when they played in London. both teams declined the bye week they normally are allowed. I guess this is an option and not just complete schedule control by the NFL. Makes you wonder what other "options" are allowed.

Both teams lost the next week. Jaguars lost on the road to the Jets, and Ravens lost at home to the Steelers.

The following week, Saints played Dolphins, dolphins did not have a bye week, they beat the titans, without Mariota though. Saints took their bye week.

This bye week shouldn't hurt us. It's good timing to regroup and we don't have a powerhouse team to play coming off a bye. That said we still have to show up and take care of San Fran.

I have a better idea. Why dont we chain Taco to the wall in the Star and feed him nothing but Carolina Reaper peppers for the next week and see if we can turn the soggy lifeless soft Taco into a spicy Taco with some zing?

Exactly it seems silly and it doesn't really resta team that shouldn't be tired yet all Bashi come later in the season when teams need rest and that's why I think the two-week thing would get it all out of the way in 2 weeks it could even be a 4 week thing what I hate is that when you're trying to compare teams during the season after week 4 that all have different records cuz they all played different numbers of games.
