Better to be the #3 seed or the #4 seed?

I don't think the teams are mismatched at all, and The coaches either really, we just got torn up cause they did everything we thought they wouldnt. Other than the screens to reggie.

Sean Payton vs Mike Zimmer is a huge mismatch

meh zimmer has shown an ability to call pressure defenses that would have disrupted things, the problem is our coaches seem to chicken out and go conservative too quickly if things don't go perfectly.

I'd rather be the 2 but if all I can be is 3 or 4, then 3. I tell you guys, Chicago is the most dangerous team in the NFC. I don't care about NO in NO or the Giants or whomever. The Bears are the team we need to be affraid of. Anybody who can run the ball and shut down the run is going to be tough to beat. Especially in the cold.

the Bears dont play great run defense, they give up over 100 yds a game and over 4.0 yds per rush, and they just lost their best DL (Harris) for the season, further their QB is a a huge enigma that is prone to lots of bad throws

after what we saw Sunday, I dont see how anyone can argue about which team we want to avoid

The second seed appears to be out of reach, would you rather be the #3 seed or the #4 seed? It is not as easy as it appears, consider:

#3 seed
Advantage: Play the weakest team in the NFC in the wildcard round (probably: the loser of the Eagles-Giants game this weekend)
Disadvantage: A road game against New Orleans the following week.

#4 seed
Advantage: Assuming Seattle wins in the first round at home, a road game against the Bears (who we match up with much better than the Saints)
Disadvantage: Play the best wildcard team in the NFC wildcard round (probably: the winner of the Eagles-Giants game this weekend)

Until the 2nd is truly out of reach. I cannot answer this question :D
lets face it... if we win Sat and Saints lose their game... we will be thinking about that 2 seed

Of course the #3 seed.

Better chance of hosting a possible NFC Title game.

I mean is it out of the realm of possibilties that a healthy #4 seed Seattle goes into Chicago and wins and we go into NO and win?

The Bears are 3rd overall in defense, 11th in rushing defense, 2nd in scoring defense. You add weather into that equation and I think those numbers are probably only going to get better.

I agree with you, Harris is a huge loss for them but in the run game, Harris was not nearly as big a factor as in the passing game. Not saying he was bad but he was only averaging 2.3 tackles per game this season. The real stars, against the run on that team are the LBs.

As long as the Saints don't return to Texas Stadium I'm okay with any playoff seed.

How on earth do you plan on seeing the Saints in Texas Stadium? You guys hopefully will make it to the Superdome.

Dallas will not be the #4 seed. Seattle won't be better than 9-7 (they play San Diego next week). If Dallas finishes at 9-7, they'll be the #5 or #6 seed at best.

Lovely. I'd rather visit Chicago than Sodom & Gomorrah.

The Vikings are 6-7. They probably won't even beat the Jets this weekend.

Realistically, if you look at the schedules and how the teams play each other, the 6th seed will almost certainly be 8-8. The Eagles play the Falcons in the final week of the season, that is probably the game that will determine which 8-8 team will be the 6th seed. Unless the Eagles upset the Giants this weekend, of course, then they're probably the 5th seed with the Giants as the 6th.

I agree. We'll be 3rd, 5th, 6th, or out.

While not probable, we still have a "decent" chance at the two seed. Hear me out. We obviously have to win out, which I think we will. I think we're going to be a pissed off team tomorrow night. Secondly, the Saints have to lose two games. Again, while not probable, it's not out of the question. They play Washington Sunday, a game they'll probably win but they could come out flat after last Sunday's big win and overlook the Skins. The following week they play at N.Y. I think they'll lose that game because the Giants will need it so much. The Saints play Carolina the last game of the season. Although the Panthers have not been playing well lately, they're very capable of beating the Saints, particularly if they still have a wildcard spot on the line. Again, an unlikely scenario but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

The higher seeded team will always be at home. If I had my choice of who we will play or home field advantage gimme the later.

Boy you guys are hard to please. I just read in this thread that we don't want to see the Gints , N.O. Chic. or Seatle.

Man I hope T.B. makes the playoffs so we have some one to play.:laugh2:
