Beware: “Westbrook and Vick” in the same backfield & the “No-huddle Offense”

If there are two things that Dallas should be worried about (and by the way, something similar on Dallas' end that I hope Garrett is working in) it should be these 2 things:

First: Is the Eagles lining up Westbrook and Vick in the same backfield. With McNabb, that gives them 3 mobile backs and 2 QBs. If Dallas plays man-to-man, I think they can defend this. Dallas could always scare the hell out of the Eagles defense too by lining up Felix Jones and Crayton (a former QB) in their backfield, or just go with Barber and Jones, along with Romo. Has Dallas dome much of Jones and Barber in the same backfield this year and how has that gome...anyone know?

Second: Is the no-huddle offense. I think Philly will come out with this set early to keep the same base-defense personnel on Dallas' defense in for an entire series or two...or more. This is their best shot at keeping Dallas' defense vanilla by dictating a series of plays to them. However, Dallas could always throttle Philly's defense with similar stuff. How well has Dallas' D faired against the no-huddle this season...and how much no-huddle has Dallas' offense run this season and how successful has it been...anyone know?

Beyond these two kinds of trickery, I don't see how the Eagles can muster and advantage over Dallas. But hopefully if they do this, Dallas is prepared with some similar trickery of their own - and I'm not talking about the wildcrap either.

Your thoughts….?

We don't need trickery, just line up and destroy them with execution and physical play.

When teams have gone "no huddle" I think Dallas has gone to their 4-2-5 nickel package.

I'm not advocating that Dallas' game plan directly call for a huge influx of trick plays. But if the base sets aren't working and Dallas needs "something else" to go to in order to get a spark then thry would be stupid to not have "trickery" in their arsenal as a plan-B. Goog coaches plan for every scenario, and the two I listed are not unheard of.

Reid is not going to resort to some form of trickery with the season on the line. I'd honestly be shocked if Vick even touches the ball Saturday night. Only possibly if McNabb comes out and completely stinks it up early on.

Why fumble around with something that's been a disaster all year?

On the other hand, if the Eagles get into an offensive rhythm, I could see them going no-huddle on occasion. But that's not too much of a "surprise".

The Cowboys are better in their base defense than any other. I think the only teams that could hurt us in no-huddle would be AZ, GB and Minn because of the big backs they have.

They would have to catch the Cowboys in their nickel package and isolate Bobby Carpenter asking him to either take on a pulling guard or make a one-on-one tackle.

If they try to run the no-huddle on the Cowboys base D it could end up doing more harm than good for them.

Garrett just needs to keep calling games the same way he has been the last 3 weeks.

He isn't incredibly predictable anymore and we are extremely tough to defend because of it.

I'm not even a little bit concerned about any of these things. The concern with the Eagles is the same thing it always is - don't give up big plays. If you make them earn it, McNabb and Reid will screw it up.

all we have to do is punch in the nose and punch them again then again, until they bleed, then eat all their children and their wives hearts and their mother's livers.

Vick is a legit weapon running the ball ... if he is healthy Andy is going to use him in the Wildcat.

Can anyone tell me exactly what impact Vick had in any game for the Eagles this year? How many games did he single handedly come in and dominate where he was unstoppable? Just curious!

I believe that Westbrook played this past week did he not? What great impact did he have on the outcome?

I have no doubt that Reid will have a great game plan in place for this game. I suspect Wade will too. Go win your 1st playoff game WADE and get that monkey off your and Cowboy Nation's back!

Westbrook and Vick may have been scarey about 4 years ago.

My thoughts are if the Eagles can't win the battle up front all the tricks in the world are not going to change the outcome. Westbrook I'm not overly concerned with I think he is on the downhill side of his career and did not look near to what he once was. I do have some concerns that Philly will trying to run some type of trick play like the halfback pass but their entire game can't be built on tricks and expect to win.

Anything can happen, but Westbrook looked like a shell of his former self on the few plays he played last week. Maybe he was "holding back" like everyone else, but I thought McCoy was clearly the more dangerous player. I don't know that a 30-year-old Westbrook can just turn it on in an injury-riddled year, but maybe I'm wrong and he can.

As for Vick, I have to think they're doing us a favor if they start playing Vick a lot. He's a drive killer, shown to be an inconsistent passer in their packages and isn't the home-run threat he once was.

If Philly, a team whose offense thrives on big plays in the run and pass from youngsters like Celek, Jackson and McCoy, resorts to some trickeration offense featuring Vick and Westbrook, I'd have to think the game is over at that point.

LeSean McCoy is a bigger threat and better weapon than Michael Vick.

Have you watched him out of the wildcat this year? Vick can't run the way he used to, and what that makes him now is just all around terrible.
