CDL and Parsons are no brainers.

I think with Dak they want to keep him, but it'll come down to how talks go with France.
If Dak says get it done, and don't go for the killshot deal then I think they'll wrap it up.

Posters get too wrapped up into AAV numbers.
Look at Jeffersons numbers this and next couple of years.
This year was the 5th year tender at ~17-18mil
Gets re-signed.

Now his cap hit for 2024 is 8mil
2025 is 15mil
2026 it shoots up to 38mil, which is when he'll get restructured as his base jumps to 24.9mil and an option bonus of 6mil. 31 mil can be restructured.

Nick Bosa signed a 30mil AAV deal.
2023 cap hit(year 1) was 11mil
2024 cap hit(year 2) 14.67 mil
2025 cap hit(year 3) 20.5mil

These are all very reasonable cap hits. All 3 can definitely be kept.

By 2025/26 the cap will shoot up even more and 30mil/35mil AAVs will pale to the next big deal offered to edge/WRs.
Yeah but the restructuring is why we're doing the things we're doing this off season!!

We have a big 3 to re-sign and I don't think they can afford to do all three deals. So IMO, 1 of 3 is the odd man out. Who's it going to be?

I know if we take a poll about extending Dak it's probably 50/50 if we should or shouldn't. And I completely understand both sides of the coin, I really do. But I'll go on record and say that I think we probably should extend him. Not because he's great and can carry this team to a SB ring. But because he's good enough to lead a good team to one. And the fact is we just don't have anyone close to his abilities to replace him with. I for one am not ready for a stretch of losing seasons while we try to find another quality QB in the draft or deal with signing aging vets as place holders until we do. I just hope they can get him to "not play for $" as he said. He needs to sign a reasonable contract, but leave some on the table so they have some $ leftover to sign other much needed players.

I think you have to sign Micah 100%. I know he hasn't been able to stay dominate through an entire season yet and that his contract will be absolutely ridiculous, but IMHO, his potential to be one of the all time great pass rushers is far too high to just let him walk out the door. Could you imagine if they let him go and he becomes a player far better than he already is? One most people think he most likely will be? You don't let all time greats out the door. Get the deal done and pray he stays healthy and hungry to prove he's worth it.

CeDe Lamb is also up for what is probably going to be an insanely expensive extension. And as great as he is, I'm not sure we should be the team who is signing him to that kind of deal. Don't get me wrong, he's awesome and has proven he can be the #1 and I absolutely want him on this team. But I'm not willing to lose basically all the top supporting cast players to keep him. Not when you dive deeper into the reality of the future.
I'm basing this take off of just two things:
1. Is the fact that WR, as a whole, seems to be one of the strongest position groups coming out of the draft almost every single year. Is it really worth paying a guy $150mil+ when you can replace him with a great WR but on a 5 year rookie deal? I know he'd most likely be better than any rookie, but how much better? $30M+/yr better?
2. If they sign him to a monster 5 year extension, that many think could be worth up to $175M, w/$135M guaranteed, he maybe worth it for the first year, two or three. But, history has shown us time and again that almost all WR's start to fall off (after their second contracts) as they approach age 30. And even though he's currently only 25, the reality is that he's going to start declining, most likely within the next couple/three years. Do you really want this team to lose out on several key free agents and instead be paying a declining WR 35+million dollars 3 or 4 years from now? I don't, and as much as it would hurt them/us/me to let him walk, he's the odd man out IMHO.
They can afford all 3.

Yeah but the restructuring is why we're doing the things we're doing this off season!!

Because the Front office sat on their hands till the very end. And Dallas could stepped up to the plate earlier for Dak or CDL and gotten something done sooner to free up cap space.
To me, this is intentional delaying.
Restructuring is something a lot of teams do. Saints restructure to get out of 50mil negative holes each year since Brees yet still signed Carr(lol) last year.

I would sign Lamb only if there was a chance of having a decent QB. Big time pass on Dak. I would trade the dummy podcaster now.

If CeeDee signs the same contract as Jefferson, they will actually save around $10 million on this years cap.

Micah probably won't sign until next year.

Dak will be the most difficult but they will definitely be trying.

Lamb's 5th year option currently counts $17.999 million on the cap.
Jefferson did have the 5th year option tag but now counts $8.6126 on the cap.

since none of them are signed, it's pretty obvious none of them. at least not til some smoke clears.

but hey, this can hasn't been kicked around enough yet. :)

I dont think #3 will be Jerry's choice, i think Dak may be done with Jerry...seriously, i dont really see a good reason Dak would not go to FA next offseason. I'm betting CD and Micah keep those contracts short as hell also with the QB situation in 2025 looming..if their agents are any good. Cant really blame them at this point.
The problem with posting an opinion on a debate board is eventually someone will show up to argue about it rather than leaving you alone and just posting their opinion. I have an opinion but don't want to argue about it and certainly don't care about yours.

Thanks for offering me other options in the future. I feel obligated to return that favor. Next time you see one of my posts, don't reply. Or just add me to your ignore list now so you don't have to remember my curmudgeon ways. I have opinions but I don't want to debate them. If you have opinions too then post them without getting me involved. Thanks, my friend.

I would make all three play out their contracts until I see playoff success. I would tag CeeDee next offseason and tag Parsons the season after but no long term deals until we win in the playoffs. I wouldn’t talk to Dak’s agent until we have some playoff success.

Without doubt CeeDee and Dak are getting extensions. The Jones like to play around with the drama, and they think they're using it as a motivating tool, but they've no intention of letting Dak go. Sticking a new QB in there may move the needle if it's someone who doesn't spit the bit in the playoffs but of course none of it matters unless they fix the defense and the running game, they've shown little resolve to do either so we're just rearranging the deck chairs on a sinking ship. Those are your uplifting thoughts for the day .
