Big Mistake on Spears?

With all the teams running or going to the 3-4, I expect Spears to be gone. And only getting a 2 in return seems weak. I can't believe they offered his backups more money than him. Sure, he is not a stat guy but he is the perfect 3-4 end and better than either bowen or hatcher. makes no sense.

That is tough to say.

There are 3-4 teams who could move their second round pick (San Diego, Arizona, New England, Pittsburgh).

I agree he is more attractive than a rookie that could be attained at that spot. But in a deep draft, teams are likely going to covet these choices and won't part with them easily.

There is more likely a case where Spears visits, signs an offer sheet, we might match and later trade for a lower choice. Perhaps even the fifth round choice we lack. Kansas City has an extra one.

I will never understand why people think Ratliff would do better at DE than NT. His production would drop, Spears production would rise.

I think it is an awesome idea. Dallas can weigh the pick and see if it makes sense to match the offer or take the extra second. They can look to draft a replacement or go with the players that are already there.

I like Spears and hope he stays but if push comes to shove there is alot good talent in this draft for 3-4 DE.
