I've been away, so please merge if this is a duplicate.

I keep hearing on radio and reading in the paper that Conner Williams has packed on some muscle in the offseason.
Now 315 lbs, but, more importantly, a stronger man.

I'm sure he has a good ways to go, but it's encouraging and what most of knew he needed when they drafted him.

Ready for all the post they should move him to OT coming up.......

Yes added weight, and probably some strength too.
And he worked at LT in place of Smith for one day in OTA's, as Smith will be getting the vet day off Romo Wednesday this year. And there were some other OL recovering from surgery or had minor things keeping them from playing LT. So day one was a make shift OL.

Maybe next year he moves to RT, but for now still the LG.

I think our best OL going forward after this season (I think Collins is long gone) will be:

RT - Williams
RG - Martin
C - Frederick
LG - McGovern
LT - Smith

You can have Looney as a backup interior guy, maybe draft another late round OG next year and probably find a decent, cheap vet back at OG (not sure what happens with Sua beyond this year).

Then at OT, maybe Fleming is again back. Hyatt developing into a decent back up would be great as well.

Some of the board scouts claim Williams can't play RT but frankly, we are getting average play from Collins at RT right now so I doubt there would be this big drop off in the future.

Yes, been written everywhere and discussed here as well. Last year I was shouting from the rooftops that he was too light. He was only within a few pounds of Rico Gathers! It's not unusual for guards in this league to run as high as 320, so he wasn't even heavy enough to play tackle.

What we saw last year is that he has all the skills, and he has very good footwork, but he didn't have the physical tools. This is the year where we should see a big leap.

Training camp/preseason will likely make that call.

apparently he has increased his strength by roughly 15%:
1. zmartin is his lift partner
2. he can do 365 lbs 9 times instead of 315 lbs 10 times as a rookie

direct comp between williams and martin at the combine
williams did 26 reps
zmartin did 29 reps before probowl rookie year, which does not sound like a huge difference...

how much strength does typical ol gain after rookie year?

Smith, Will, Fred, Martin, Collins.
That will be the starting 5.

Will form his offseason gains, as well as a year of experience and a learning curve. He will now benefit greatly from playing between Smith and Fred.
Will be much improved from that.

No matter what you all want, CWill at RT, it will not happen unless collins is traded. So wait until next year. Then do not be surprised if Martin kicks out to RT, and McGovern steps in at RG.

Looney is leaving after this year for starter money. Sua is likely not making the team unless we move someone. Hyatt is going to have to move inside as he's not a pro T.

Those gains are crazy... 365 X 9 from 315...man, it's gonna be different for opposing DTs this year. Kudos to CWill.
