The media is reporting that Terence Newman does not know Rob Ryan's defense well enough to play in the slot and that Alan Ball will remain at the slot position.

Also, they indicated that although Frank Walker has played the slot in the past, that he didn't know enough of this defense either to play that position.

I think that Alan Ball is decent when playing the outside CB position; however, he really struggles when he is in the slot.

I find it hard to believe that Newman doesn't know the defense. He might not of been playing it, but he must of been studying the defense while injured. I believe its a non story and they must of ran out of controversial rumors.

he struggles more when hes in man 2 man. I don't have a problem with him playing the slot, just no more 8 man blitzes, please.

TNew will be in the slot come game time. He knows the defense and this is totally opposite of what Elam said of TNews return.. Don't believe the hype folks!!!

Where has this been reported? Link please?

My biggest concern for the game is getting dominated at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball but especially our offensive line protecting the QB.

Our slot cornerback is like the 9th thing I worry about with this game.

My biggest concern is the offensive line getting Romo killed. They were awful last week but I do think they will do better this week. The Commanders get most of their pressure from the edges, as long as Free shows up we should be good to go.

You haven't watched the Skins games, have you? 5 of the 7 sacks came up the middle.

Rob Ryan's Press Conference.

I luv listening to this cat, he will have our D ready to roll. The Foreskins haven't seen the type of speed and aggressiveness that RR defense brings. Rex is in for a looooong nite...

Rob said that TNew knows the game plan and defense for this game against the Foreskins and thats really what is important..

The most concerning thing is all of these injuries.

Getting Newman back is nothing but a positive.

How would the media know?

Do you believe the coaching staff would let that out?

Do you believe his injury prevented him from studying the defense?

It could very well be true, but the media regurgitates information they are handed by the team. And unless it is Jerrah spouting off the game plan - and he is apt to do that because he has to let us all know what a football guy he is - the press draws conclusions by the information they are given.

They are reliable only when their information is accurate, obviously.

But disinformation is a game unto itself.

I think they are speculating.

Guys going after Romo, including Mr. Stephen Bowen. That is the biggest fear, these injuries are crazy and the offensive line is included in this. I also fear further injury to Romo, Dez and Felix. Can Jones run the ball effectively? Can Dez stay on the field all game?

I'm not particularly worried about our defense they have surprised me this season so far, now Newman will be back so we have a healthy secondary with the exception of Scandrick.

Newman hasn't gotten much in the way of reps with the defense. Knowing it academically and performing it on the field is two completely different things. The coaching staff may be thinking that they want to limit Newman's responsibilities so he can play instinctively and let a less talented player who understands their responsibilities more intuitively play the slot. Just my thought.

My thoughts exactly

I heard it from Mickey Spagnola. I think he was just repeating what Rob Ryan said in a press conference.
