LOL Wow, Switzer is Hitler? Wow, that's harsh. Still, even Hitler wouldnt do what Switzer did -- remember Switzer eating a hot dog DURING the Pro Bowl...you know, when he was the NFC coach due to the 94 NFC Championship game 1st quarter debacle? Dude was supposed to be coaching and he's enjoying a nice kosher frank.

Ok to be the biggest single mistake a Cowboys player makes has to be the last play, or previous to last play of a game to decide the outcome. I'm not going to count the Smith drop, a bit before my time. Of recent note here's my list- I can't remember certain years sorry... feel free to tell me when they were I like knowing just know I saw the games.

1) Drew Bledsoe vs Philadelphia 2006 (Lito Sheppard) on 3rd and Goal from the 2.
2) Untimed down play vs Washington (O-Line Gaffe), facemask by Kosier.
3) Drew Bledsoe vs. Seattle 2005 (Jordan Babineaux/Josh Brown)pick, kick to win.
4)Tony Romo vs Seattle 2007 (botched hold) playoff game.
5)Troy Aikman vs Philadelphia 1997(?) int return for game winning touchdown on last play.
6)Jay Novacek vs Cleveland (1995?) somehow stopped at one inch line

My choice? I'll take 1 and 2. If those plays don't occur neither does number 4, and we'd be playing our first playoff game this weekend not last.

One more: Danny White's fumble on Cowboys counter-drive to "the Catch". If not for that play, I believe Septien would have kicked the winner with no time left.

Just about anyone could have coached the Cowboys to prominence after Jimmy left: Switzer, Norv Turner, Wanstedt, anyone. The real test was keeping the talent pool full year after year, and Lacewell killed the Cowboys in that respect.

I do remember the hot dog gig. That's Switzer. I don't think I'd of been any more surprised if he fired up a big, fat cigar. :laugh2:

Ya know, we hear that alot. I tend to disagree some. You take a guy, an outsider, and plop him into a situation in which the head coach has just quit. A head coach that's just built a possible dynasty. Add to that, a locker room FULL of egos. He did a damn good job on that aspect of the game. Talk about walking on egg shells. He kept them together and they played good ball. Norv, Gailey and especially Campo would of been reduced to worthless piles of human flesh inside a week.

Jackie Smith or course. I was a kid and cried like a wiotch.

The Romo thing was bad, but it was like saving us from a serious embarrassment the next week.

Joey Galloway vs 2 number one draft picks .......

:banghead:

Yet more self-inflicted misery placed on himself. Nice Jerry.

New worst moment: Jerry Jones buys the Dallas Cowboys.

Do not get me wrong ...... I understand why he did it ..... but hindsight says it put us back years.

But when you have an ageing Troy Aikman .... you have to take chances.

I agree Zrin.
However, it's still in Jerry's persona. He just can't help himself.

Danny White's fumble is IT for me on so many levels.

First off starting that drive with like 50 seconds didn't look too good. After the big completion to Pearson everything changed.
Now we have it at S.F.'s 45 yardline with about 35 seconds left and I think a timeout in our pocket.

At that point the odds were in our favor. More importantly time was no longer a major factor. In all likelyhood we weren't gonna run out of time.
After that first play we called timeout. I'm thinking we come out of that break with a screen or a draw to Dorsett, because if you remember Dorsett was lighten it up that day.
The two things you don't want to do there is take a sack or throw a pick.

You have basically three shots to pick up 10-15 yards and give the best kicker in the game at that time a chance to win it.

Having that game end in that manner was less exceptable than Romo's gaff.
How could White not see that DL coming right up the middle and not take off? He was one of the more mobile QBs playing then.

How could White allow himself to be stripped of the ball?

Just felt that whole last series was just rushed. White and Landry just choked!

Roger Staubach blames himself, not Jackie Smith, for that play. He said Smith was so wide open, he could have punted the ball to him, but he threw a bad pass.

and many seem to forget that the bogus pass interference call on Benny Barnes later in the game probably had just as much of an impact if not more than Jackie's drop......the drop just got more play.....the BS interference call on Barnes was so bad the NFL changed the rule of incidental contact that off season........Roger Staubach to this day says it is the worst call he has ever seen in the NFL......most that remember the play agree.
