Biggest Disappointment in the game

For me it was the lack of a pass rush, granted this is just 1 of 4 pre-season games but I have to say I was a bit disappointed that we just did not generate any pass rush even against a guy like Warner.

Offensive line problems, I thought this was supposed to be one of the more improved units on the field. :( (And everyone was healthy too.)

I have to agree with you, like made way too many mistakes and did not do a good job aginst the blitzing Cards defense. I will say I was a bit suprised at how often the cards blitzed in the game but none the less our guys have to do a better job of picking it up.

Yep the Oline issue was for me...
The not much pass rush is a result of us not blitzing (at all)...

Our best rusher (Ware) was often playing pass defense in coverage because the Cards were often using 3 WR sets...

I expect that to change next week as we gell on D and begin to build confidence there!

Actually everyone was NOT healthy.

Rob was playing with a bad wheel and then Jacobs left a few minutes into his time with a sprained right Knee.

So the same area we had trouble with last year, hurt us in this game again.

O-line

Lack of pass rush was the fact that we seemed to play a base 3-4 alot of the game and they were only rushing 3 most of the time that I saw. BP said he was going to keep it simple and that is what I saw from our D. I am not worried yet, game 3 and 4 should be a bit different or I will be worried.

For me it was definetly the first team O-Line! No question.

I am not worried about the pass rush much, not yet.

First we did not have Ferguson or Spears. Second we really did not blitz at all, and 3rd I think a lot of our pass rush is going to come from the Line Backers who where playing this scheme for the first time, and probably worried about assignments and technique. Once they are use to the scheme, game plan, have the big boys up front and can play without thinking to much, we can expect better results IMO.

That was it for me as well. I wanted to see Julius get off a couple of big runs but his only really good one was called back. And I wanted to see Bledsoe build some chemistry with his receivers but with the pressure he was getting he really never had a chance.

Flozell had the worst game I can remember for him, LA was invisible, Gurode was ordinary when he wasn't holding, Rivera looked pretty good pulling on a couple of plays I thought but it wasn't enough, Pettiti looked like exactly what he was...a rookie who had switched positions just 3 days before the game. They better all step it up before the season rolls around.

As much as I was disappointed in the lack of a pass rush, the play of the OL was the biggest disappointment to me. Still have 3 more to play to do more evaluations. I am looking forward to game #3, which is the usual game where starters play at least a half. If we are still playing poorly after that game THEN I will panic. But for now this was just the 1st preseason game and we have been horrible in preseason wk 1 during Parcells tenure here.

OL

My biggest problem was with Flozel. I understand that RT has problems because a rookie started but Adams played like crap and let his guy get pressure. He needs to step up big time.

Problem is a team should not have to blitz to generate pressure if the only way you can get a pass rush is by blitzing your going to end up giving up some big plays down field.

The OL was making me sick. It was hard to judge what Bledsoe could or couldn't do. Hopefully on Monday they look a LOT better.

Our primary pass rush threat needs time to adjust to a new position and a new scheme. It would have been too much to expect Ware to have it all sorted out in his first action at this level against someone not on his team. But I fully expect that he'll get it sorted out.

As I said I understand that this was just the 1st pre-season game but I was still disppointed that we did not even come close. Just as some are disappointed with the O-line the same can be said for them that this was just the 1st pre-season game.

Here's how it went for the first-unit offense.

Start from the 20, punt from the 23. Start from the 18, punt from the 16. Start from the 18, punt from the 18. Start from the 27, punt from the 43. Start from the 19, punt from the 14.

this has got to change

Didn't mean to deny the validity your concerns. Was just pointing out a reason to expect better going forward.

I agree with your point and I do think that it will look a lot better as we move through the Pre-season games. I was just looking forward to seeing Dallas putting pressure on the QB and when it did not happen it was a bit of a let down.

Right Tackle. Center. Left Tackle. QB not shutting up in interviews after the game.

I would agree here, since I had maybe unreasonably high expectations of our pass rush. I was hoping to see pressure without the blitz. The biggest suprise was the OL for sure.

Bledsoe, both on and off the field.

And I have been a relative Bledsoe "supporter" for most of the offseason (mostly because I didn't like the alternatives).

I'm not expecting miracles out of him, but I did expect to see more poise than the 2 kids behind him. Again, during and after the game.
