talent and artistry have been thrown by the wayside for the almighty $$.

A few have broken through, Rise Against is pretty main-stream now. They certainly are not at a lack of talent, or artistry. Thirty Seconds to Mars, Coldplay.

you listed coldplay as good, any band ever now fits your criteria

Black keys are really big now.

I like the Black Keys, too.

Muse has to be considered.

Radiohead deserves a mention.

Tool is still kicking around.

Queens of the Stone Age if you are more into alternative.

Rage Against the Machine

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Now now, Coldplay is certainly more talented than a majority of mainstream artists.

The White Stripes

Unfortunately they are no more but they left an indelible mark for close to 10 years. Easily one of the best live performing bands in recent history.

Rise Against is definitely my favorite rock band

It's incredible how many good songs they produce....

For the one poster who mentioned Thrice: I haven't listened to Thrice in about 8 years so I'm not certain what they have "transitioned to"

I also don't think Rise Against is popular enough right now. They just hit mainstream recently. I want to say they made it big with Saviour, which was like 2 years ago. But theyve been putting out hits since 01

I still mostly listen to 80's and 90's so that should say something.

I also listen to a lot of Metal that doesn't get much airplay.

My phone is loaded with 80s and 90s metal. I have very little on it that isn't at least 15 years old. The newest is I believe 3 songs from Metallica's last album which I think is four years old now.

Mine is mostly older stuff too.

I got godsmack stuff, some new foreign metal like Amon Amarth.

I think the last one I bought was steel panther which is like 80s hair metal but with joke lyrics. I think you might like the cd they did a few years ago called feel the steel. The newest one is ok but not as good as the other one.

I have some Godsmack from their self-titled and Awake. I really haven't heard much of any of their other albums. A guy I know told me that Oracle is really good, but I haven't heard it yet.

Have you heard Oracle? Is it worth picking up?

If you liked the other two you will like oracle. Faceless is not bad either. I like pretty much all of the CDs although I did get IV as I heard it was a bit different than the others.

They have been pretty popular for a while now. They are headlining a show at Nassau Coliseum
