Bentley is a pipe dream. Franchised.

Should be. Either that or he'll be compinstated above and beyond by NO because of the latitude the NFL will likely give NO and all who sign there.

Before the season, it was FS. So can anyone say they're totally happy with Pile and Davis manning the spot?

I think the biggest problem on the OL may be chemistry. Too many moving parts in the offseason reduced the effectiveness of the entire line. Only LA and Rivera are playing in the same spot as last year, and they're playing next to guys who are playing different positions or rotating in and out...

I still think FS is a need in the offseason, just not as glaring as the OLine problems at the moment.

reality check

flo would cost a fortune to replace, not gonna happen
good kickers never hit the market, cundiff will be back next year
bentley is not liklley to ever hit the market, n.o. is not in too bad a shape on there cap.
the easiest spot to fix is the one you can get a player to fill. you don't get to pick who hits the market so if it's a center, great but don't expect a pro bowler to just fall to us and don't expect us to be big players in f.a. this year after the money we spent last year unless a new cba gets done

FS doesn't rank quite as high on my needs list. I think that Davis and Pile have been good enough, and I think Beriault may help even more. I mean, if an upgrade is available, I would jump at it, but I wouldn't make that my priority.

I think you have to fix the OL first. I don't have a clue how though.

I would like a big-time upgrade at FB, and I think TE is a bigger need than many realize.

Obviously, I think the team desparately needs more LBs too - especially someone to play opposite Ware.

If we have cap space available & a quality FA center available, I say we sign him. We also should sign the best OLB available in FA along with a good blocking FB & if we can also pick up more then decent FS go for it. In the draft, I'd prefer to draft OG Max Jean Gilles (given Allen & Riveria ages) whose got the size & athleticism to even play RT in NFL but I wouldn't be upset if we signed best OT available either. Don't expect there to be any other good OGs available on first day unless lot of junior OGs decide to come out. 2006 also isn't good year for WRs unless some juniors WRs comes out early. BTW: 2007 looks to be good year for WRs & OGs if most of the juniors at these 2 positions elect not to play in NFL in 2006. If we go OT, I'd go either WR or QB or even RB in 2nd and/or 3 rd. We don't have a 4th but do have 2 5th rounders picks & we should use both on best player available.

Is LeCharles Bentley the guy that beat up Tyson Walter and then got sued by Walter?

Parcells doesn't believe in spending big $$$ on Kickers. As you can tell, he's a very stubborn man. He'll never change. Unless it's his hair.

yeah, and Parcells was supposed to favor starting his guys over youngsters

I think OT and C are by far the biggest need. IMO Petitti and Tucker should be second string, and Gurode/Johnson can fight it out for the backup C position.

I think Gurode is gone, doesn't he have like an option upcoming? I propose we sign Jeff Mitchell to a relatively cheap contract to mentor Johnson and/or start over him

as well as Pat OT Tom Ashworth to battle it out with Pettiti

I think kicker is a big need and they'd be 10-2 if they had a kicker who could make chip shots. But even still, they wouldn't win the Super Bowl with the way the O-Line is playing right now.

If I was Parcells I'd search for a center, free safety, right tackle, and kicker in free agency.

All of these are positions that they need to be better at and at the very least need more competition.

Then I'd draft a guard, preferably a right guard so I don't hear excuses about him learning a new position. I still figure that Rivera may have a good year in him if healthy and quite frankly, they need to develop something for the future for Rivera and Allen.

In the second round, I'd look at the best free safety or speed WR available. Whomever I don't take in round two, I go after in round three. Speed WR has to be able to do punt returns and will be the guy to eventually replace Terry Glenn.

After that, I'd look at LB. Although they should be pretty well off with Kalen Thornton and Al Singleton coming back, Fujita getting a second year in the defense, and Burnett should get better. I think they are best off putting Burnett at ILB next year and have him compete with Shanle.

I'd then consider a fullback, although they usually don't get drafted.

The good news is that it's a lot easier to find a center, guard, and fullback than it is to find a good RB, WR, CB, etc.

Rich.........

why do you want a FS? we have other needs, and Pile and Davis are young enough, and have talent, that they are worth waiting a couple years on

and speaking of young guards, Parcells believes Stephen Peterman has a future here, or he would be elsewhere

Love the name btw.
Biggest FA need is a center named LeCharles Bentley.

In the draft, I think biggest need is Tackle. I'd love to see Flo move to RT if we get a 1st rd LT like Jon Scott. Flo is gonna have an easier time at RT after his injury and wont have to be as quick. Jon Scott is a freakin stud who could be a probowl caliber guy at LTformany years. Or Flozell back at LT and we draft a stud RT in the first or 2nd.

or we could draft a stud LT, and have him sit behind Flo for a couple years

love the Jon Scott idea though, he's quick and can block in the 2nd level, and may need the year or 2 to develop and add some weight and strength behind Flo
