He just needs to get and stay healthy.

If he plays like in his first two years i think he may get cut in 2027 post TC (But then you may be right. With our decission maker in the FO he may even get a second contract at valet ranch.).

This is not because he was/is injured. The guy is flat out bad and whats more he doesnt seem to like the game.

I’m not going to argue with your opinion. But in mine, there is no way to compare Mazi and Guyton. Don’t know where you get that Guyton doesn’t like the game and he has shown flashes. And unlike Mazi, He’s had injuries to deal with. He may never develop, but you can’t give up after two years. Bench him? Fine if you can get someone better But at least give it some more time, even if it is on the bench.

as i already wrote i am not planing to let him go after 2 years. i wrote it should be a hard thought after his 3rd year where he still plays as bad as he did.

Injuries are an argument. Still this is his problem not the franchises one. I take it as Parcells did: give him 3 years then you know what you got. A players who could develop but is always injured is also a bad player.

The guy got benched for a bad backup player in his first year. Now he is hurt again and did not show any kind of improvement before that.

That guyton looks like a guy that doesnt like the game was discussed a lot during the time when he got hurt again. Nate Newton said it in HWTB but also others. It was also posted here in the forum. Of course i cant give you sources. I dont wanna fight over this, its just that i want to share what i read and hear.

The guy to me looks like a bust. Letting go of him sooner than later to me is the way to do it. That has nothing to do with the guy himself. Its just my opinion how to handle players from which you already know that they wont pan out. Better a ccept your failure in a draft pick than to ignore reality. We do this way too often.

And the latter is the reason i compare him to Mazi. Guyton is a better player than Mazi. No doubt. Much better? I dont think so. But the point is he will be a bust like Mazi was. Again: Better part ways earlier than way too late.

Who will be the LT then ? Heck, i dont know. After two busted premium picks on trying to find our next Tyron Smith you better ask who is making those decissions to draft bad LTs. Will McClay, SJ, JJ .... Ask them how to handle the LT position.

But you wont find a solution by keeping bad players around. They occupy a roster spot and will only be less avluable as longer they hang around. Try to trade him now, with two years left on his rookie contract. Maybe there is a team who is willing to give you something for him. Wait another year of failure and nobody is going to believe in the guy anymore.

Sorry didn’t get the part where you wanted to give him one more year. I agree, after this year, if he doesn’t show major improvement, then he’d be a cut candidate.

This is where I feel the Cowboys and McClay has failed.

Teams fail all the time, but this is where is a pattern seems to coming up. They need to readjust their current evaluation model. for late first round, second and third round picks.
