big disappointments entire secondary . Corey white and Patmon getting cut , B jones getting beat every week , Carr playing soft coverage and we have a poor set of safeties. Church use to be good, he looks washed up. My overall biggest disappointment is Dez . He got his money and just had a terrible season. I feel like he single handedly lost us the TB game.

Biggest surprise has been La'el Collins , Whitehead , and man thinks this season sucked lol.

Does Dez make this disappointment list because he got a new contract, got hurt, returned to ineptitude QBs, returned to poor schemes, had a bad game in GB, determined to be the poster child for all things around him, or what?

My biggest surprises were the performances of both Whitehead and McFadden. I originally expected nothing from either. My biggest disappointments were our front office's failures to make better decisions in the offseason and our overall performance as a team as a result of same.

Surprise- How good Dunbar was, Dmac, JWitt still ageless, Lee only missed 1 game so far, Collins is going to be a beast

Disappointments- Losing Romo/Dez/Dunbar, Garrett, entire secondary as usual, McClain, T Craw, Backup QB which is pretty much Garrett and JJ

Disappointed in a lack of big plays on both sides of the ball because of uninspired and uncreative coaching.

Surprise would be how quickly Jones and Collins got up to speed.
Disappointment: The entire team's inability to win without Romo, I mean one game!!!!

Biggest Disappointment:
-Garrett: couldn't lead this team to a few wins while Romo was out (the first time). Any coach worth anything could find a way to win a few of those games. Was always a fan of this guy but my support is fading.
-O-Line: The O Line has not lived up to it's billing and that includes when Romo was playing. I think this team misses Callahan as the O Line coach. Still an above average group that is the least of my concerns.
-Play Calling: Zero innovation. Predictable and boring. Way to easy for defenses to take Dez away. I haven't said, "wow, that was a great play call" since Sean Payton was the offensive coordinator. The entire NFL knows what this offense is trying to do.
-Wilcox: brings nothing to the table
-R McClain: doesn't have the heart. Always gets hurt when the the going gets rough.
-Romo: Needs to do one of two things: 1. Hit the weight room and put some muscle on his frame so he can better withstand the hits he takes 2. Adopt the Brady/Manning approach and throw the ball away as soon as he's under pressure. He can't play escape artist anymore unless he's going to bulk up. I'm not sure that would help at this point.
-T Williams: Far too inconsistent to be relied on in the NFL. Too many drops and disappearing acts this year.
-Marinelli: I know he doesn't like to blitz but we all saw what happened against the Skins a few weeks ago when he opened up the playbook. When the offense is as bad as it is, you need to change the way you play to give yourself the best chance of winning. He needs to blitz more... a lot more.

Biggest Surprise:
-Lee: was fairly healthy this year and was our best defensive player. Most NFL players miss a game or two at this point so I'm happy with what we got from him.
-Backup QB: can't believe how inept they were in this offense.
-Weeden: played pretty well for Houston. O'Brien is a heck of a coach.
-NFC East: can't believe how bad the rest of the division is. Shame Tony and Dez weren't healthy.

***Don't want to be overly negative but this season didn't have many positives.

interesting thread.

dis: Twill/Street(lack of a #2 VERY evident), Randle(too dumb to make it through a contract year, wow), Wilcox(guy who was all potential actually regressed), Garrett(being linear thinker very evident... no adjustments, just straight-ahead-- admittedly a plus last year when we ran the ball relentlessly even through early punts.

I think the above are actionable levels of play. Randle is done of course but I suspect Wilcox/Street and TWill are looking for new teams soon. And IMHO Garrett is now on a hot seat for NEXT year.

surprise: Lucky(shown toughness all year), Collins(TOOK job and RAN with it) ... with 4 wins that's best I can do.

People were hating on Lawrence and Crawford up until a few weeks ago. Now they're the fan favorites.

Give it a week, then they'll be back to being bums. The Cowboys (like every other team, I suppose) have some very fickle fans. I think this board is composed of 20% "homers", 20% "haters/realists", and 60% that are week-to-week homer/realist, depending on whether the Cowboys win or lose.

Based on your expectations for specific players coming into this season, who fits these categories for you?

For me D. Lawrence, B. Jones and Claiborne have been the biggest surprises. I had high hopes for Lawrence, but he's been solid from the start of the season and really good in the 2nd half. Jones has been very good in the roles they've put him in. Yes he's been beaten, but overall for a rookie CB/S he's surpassed my expectations this year. I expected nothing from Claiborne. He's actually been a solid player for us this year.

For my Disappointments, Wilcox, Church and Free. Wilcox and Church have both regressed this season. Wilcox even more so. I think it's time the team admits he was another failed project and bench him. Church has looked lost also. Lots of blown coverages, but even worse, lots of missed tackles. Time to move on. Free has also went backwards from last season. Age and injuries I guess. I didn't expect greatness, but I expected better from him.

Cant argue with much of that; I agree for the most part.

I think Dez got money and sort of checked out. Or doesnt really know how to be a leader. And with the money we allocate towards him. That cant happen. I know, no QB and foot injury.....life is tough, isnt it? All I know is, he didnt show up this season. I am tired of excuses. Legit or not.

I thought Mo played well. I hope he sticks around, but someone else is going to offer him some money. And I think he is gone.

Wilcox is a backup. I like church, I want him on the team, but he is a compliment player....a role player. He cant be the guy back there....

The RBs. I was completely against what the Cowboys FO did at this position. DId you see what David Johnson did the other night? But, I did have hope for Randle and DMC. And although I really like DMC. He is also a role player. A fill in guy when the main guy is tired or hurt. But, he has played well. Nothing bad to say about DMC.......Now Randle? What a joke.............they let the leagues leading rusher go for THAT GUY? What were they thinking?

Biggest suprise for me, Nick Hayden, ay what you want but the guy has outplayed Crawford.
Biggest disappointment, i dont see how anybody cant put Dez at the front of that list.

Biggest surprise: Latin Mind saying that Nick Hayden outplayed Crawford.:)
Biggest disappointment: Not being able to game plan a way to get 2 or 3 wins out of Weeden/Cassel.

I don't think Wilcox regressed, he was just terrible to begin with.
