I’m really torn on Parsons. He’s one of the most dynamic defenders in the entire league. But is he worth QB money? If he costs you $5m more per year than another LB yeah you pay him. Thats a bargain. But do you pay 20 percent of your cap to keep him?

If a team would give you two firsts for him, you could take one of those firsts and replace him with a really good first round linebacker cheaply. Then you have another first round pick to fill a hole at another position.

Let’s say you draft a linebacker in the first round, you can pretty much bet that he’s going to be a good one. You could also draft a stud corner and eventually move on from Diggs or Bland and keep your cap healthy and add more players there. Depth is such in under rated aspect of a team.
You're first mistake is viewing Parsons as a linebacker. He's a football player, the NFL is becoming more positionless like the NBA. Parsons is a player you pay and he's definitely gonna be the highest paid defensive player in history.

This is something to really keep an eye on. It's not just the young QBs struggling either, the league as a whole is seeing fewer and fewer passing yards. Its really been a downward trend since the 2020 season where the average was 240 per game. I didn't look at the numbers since before the Monday night game so it could have changed slightly but the average yards for QBs week 1 was 187. I don't think its been below 200 yards per game for a season since the early 90s.

Despite this teams actually scored more frequently, 39.8% of drives resulted in points this past week which if that trend continues would be the highest percentage of all time.
Thats why these QB's who are playing good get monster contracts. There is a lack of good QB's overall in the league.

Pre car wreck Erik Williams was beast mode as well. but your point is valid with Emmitt, Plus Irvin was a hall of famer and harper was good here,
Yes, he was HOF trajectory…still good, but robbed of HOF from that crash. People hating on smith, diminishing his greatness irritates me, dude had it all…blocking, running, vision, balance, elusiveness , receiving, durability….. maybe not as shifty as Sanders, but more than shifty enough to frequently shake tackles and elude direct hits to the point he was like never injured! Couldn’t ask for more from a back.

Very insightful. I especially liked what he said about coaches figuring out the flow of the game early and beginning the adjustment before halftime. Also, the comments on hero ball vs game manager would have him being called out of his name around here by our resident geniuses.

Bilichick: Stephen and Jerry do a good job running the roster. The only way you can retain guys like Parsons, Lamb and Prescott and still afford others is you have to find bargains with talent.
I can believe Bilichick or I can believe Bobhaze & other perpetual critics here. Hmmm...who should I believe?

as regards the basic plan which is to keep your best and try and get bargains elsewhere, it is correct.
They just are not all that good at getting the bargains. This year it looks like they got one in Kendricks but that is rare.

Where do you get these false numbers from? SAS?
