In the 90's EVERYONE knew Emmitt was coming but they still could not stop us. But that kind of talent is so hard to accumulate anymore. And all too often people forget just how GOOD our D was back then.
May have been best o line ever assembled and yes the defensive back ups could have formed a starting group nowadays and compete.

Jerry was great pre salary cap era but only good since. The Hershel Walker trade was simply genius

Well unless you were Minnesota

Funny thing about that 90s line…. Newton, Gesek and Tuieni were scrubs/basic for years before Emmitt got there. The best linemen was Larry Allen who came AFTER Emmitt already won multiple rushing titles and two super bowls and league MVP. I’ve heard a lot of people undermine Emmitt’s greatness putting all credit to the line, they don’t know the real of who was on the line, where they came from and when (not saying that’s what you are doing).

Exactly. They could do better but are just not willing to spend the money. Being cheap there is preventing us from taking the next step; well one of the things anyway.
I guess you missed the part where BB gave the Jones' their flowers. Cherry pick away, my guy.

Pre car wreck Erik Williams was beast mode as well. but your point is valid with Emmitt, Plus Irvin was a hall of famer and harper was good here,

So you keep that close track on everyone's comments.

That's amazing. I can barely remember what *I* say day to day.

Good watch if you like learning from the masters. There are a lot of coaching tips I didn’t cover. He’s is like his old boss Parcells and teaches a coaching clinic while talking to the press.

On Week 1:
  • A lot of flags. Too many. Some of it is sloppy play, but also the officials purposefully being too tight to show teams how they will call it this year. Tough for players cause they’re not sure how game is going to be called and it removed some big plays.
  • A lot of overreaction to both wins and losses. Many games to go and a lot of work to be done by all teams.
  • A lot of injuries. Will be much roster shuffling and transitions as teams figure out how to deal with them for the season.
  • Shocked how bad the QB production was in week one. QBs like Jayden Daniels, Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams only averaged 2-3 yards throw before YAC. Lack execution in passing game in almost half league. Fewest TD passes in week 1 in a while. 5 years ago it was double that amount passing TDs in week one. This means a lot of FG kicking. You can’t just run in the NFL, have to be able to pass if want to be competitive.
On Cowboys:
  • (Asked how to GM Cowboys salaries for big three) Having good players is not a problem. 2 years from now those salaries will look pretty good and much lower than what others will be making. Prescott is making not much more than many other QBs who are not performing.
  • Stephen and Jerry do a good job running the roster. The only way you can retain guys like Parsons, Lamb and Prescott and still afford others is you have to find bargains with talent. Cowboys have done a fantastic job at that with special teams. Aubrey and Turpin are elite players and best at their position, kicker and return man. And barely cost anything. I wouldn’t kick to Turpin. He almost broke other runs for TDs too, he’s too dangerous to get the ball. Bonus points from these guys that you didn’t count on. That‘s how you afford Parsons, Lamb and others.

All of this at the same time indicates both effective leadership - both coaching and analyzing. That is all of the franchise. Here and now. Hooooooaaaah.:starspin:

You are probably right about the not smart thing. I never claimed otherwise.

"seemingly"? Yep...right about that too..a key word...depending on your perception and agenda/outlook. (agenda isn't necessarily a bad thing- your motivation for being here?)

Yes..I notice both criticism and praise. Most people do BOTH. They don't always preface each other first. I know I can't remember them all nor do i see every single one of them.

Agree with alot of that except the last part. Praise is RARE here

This is something to really keep an eye on. It's not just the young QBs struggling either, the league as a whole is seeing fewer and fewer passing yards. Its really been a downward trend since the 2020 season where the average was 240 per game. I didn't look at the numbers since before the Monday night game so it could have changed slightly but the average yards for QBs week 1 was 187. I don't think its been below 200 yards per game for a season since the early 90s.

Despite this teams actually scored more frequently, 39.8% of drives resulted in points this past week which if that trend continues would be the highest percentage of all time.
Interesting. I would assume the last bit is related to (1) the expansion of "scoring position" thanks to the continual improvement of kickers, (2) the 4th-down evolution, where teams go for it much more in field positions where they would otherwise (even now) punt, and (3) this year's kickoff change bringing the ball out to the 30 yard line.

A 35-yard drive (after a kickoff) is likely to produce points today, where in the past you'd need 10-20 more than that. And a 30-yard drive doesn't end on a 4th-and-1.

Sort of strange to see passing yards go down but points scored is not. So is rushing yards going up?
and once again with supposedly bad QB play how are points not going down.
Something does not track here.
He didn't say points scored are going up (haven't checked the numbers), he said more drives end in points. There's a difference.

Shorter fields (kickoffs come back to the 30), better kickers (50-55 yarders are close to routine).

I'm sick of your complaining about the complaining.
