Never been a head coach that old to win a Super Bowl. Hire him would be a mistake. It would be equivalent to when Parcells came here, brings excitement but doesn’t bring results.

I just don’t know how you can bring McCarthy back after today’s performance? I like the guy but there are some obvious good coaches out there unlike years past.

You can’t.

McCarthy did a good job but bringing him back kills your regular season next year because nobody cares and if you get to the playoffs and have another showing like this then you’ve wasted even more time.

It’s clear he has to go. I feel bad for the guy but today should’ve sealed his fate.

Bill is definitely an upgrade even at his current age.

No question that he would utilize Parsons properly, have a competent defense and well prepared team.

He has the skins on the wall and would bring something of value to a team desperately attempting to have post season successes.

We have a FO that doesn't even believe in the advantage of utilizing veteran FAs to complement their draft picks and roster.

They're so clueless that they take vacations while FA is going on. They like to acquire a few cheap FAs to serve their cause.

When the tougher NFL teams are on the schedule, they're surprised to discover that they're unable to compete very capably.

I seriously doubt that Bill Belichick would be satisfied with the way that this FO handles their Veteran Free Agency process!!!

And his career winning % without Tom Brady is .460, and that includes 11 years worth of data so not a small sample size.

I just don’t understand the excitement surrounding him. In terms of consistent success directly attributable to a coach we really have no evidence he’s even on the level of Bill Parcells, who rebuild FOUR separate franchises and only once had anything resembling an elite quarterback.
You may be right about BB but age has nothing to do with it. Having Tom Brady was Belichick's advantage in their glory days. I do think Belichick is a good manager, however. How that can help the Cowboys, I don't know since the front office isn't accountable for its failures.

Does that include his time in Cleveland or just in New England? I'm not saying you're wrong, btw. He's getting up there in age, and he has nothing to prove. I suspect he will simply not accept any HC offer and instead will just retire.

Without doubt I would bring him in if a deal could be worked. Even this season he has impressed me with his coaching. When we played the PATS earlier in the season they lost their 2 best players on DEF during the game (Gonzalez and Judon), despite this he built the DEF into one of the best units in the NFL (again!)

Andy Reid is 65.

And I remember how he left the Eagles, the same story now with Belichick.

I don't buy the ageism.
Agree. It's not about the age. It's about desire, experience, and ability to build something that can win on the next level. Both Belichick or Caroll could potentially give you 5-6 great years.

If Bill comes in, I can’t imagine how bad the offense would be. I don’t want Bill O’Brien any where near Dallas. Go get Harbaugh and be done with it. If MM is let go, Jerry won’t hire a coach that anyone wants…bet on that.
I agree the offense wouldn’t be as good passing wise…in the regular season.

Bet you we could run the ball though.

Bet we could scheme people open come playoffs too.

Well, we have an 81 year old GM who hired himself and hired his unqualified son. Why not at this point? I don't even care if they hire a fan out of the stands at this point. None of it matters.
Yes nepotism works great.

I'd rather get a new HC that can grow with the team and stay current with the league.

That said, the prospect of Belichick brings discipline, defense, presumably a good supporting cast of coaches. Just lock him out on draft day.

MM is on a leash because Jerry runs everything and has all veto power. The country club culture is driven by Jerry.

Jerry may be forced to concede final say on football operations to BB. That is the only way this culture will change, so I say make it happen.

The idea that some old flunkey like him would come and save the day is nonsense. He is nothing without Brady and he is a senior citizen. Add to that the clown show that actually runs things and you will have the same thing. Nothing will change.
