Out of the entire carousel of head coaches Jerry has hired & fired over the years, only two (Jimmy Johnson & Bill Parcells) had personalities and egos as huge as his...and had no issue going toe-to-toe with him. They were also the only two HCs in the Jones era who left of their accord. I never liked the McCarthy hire for that very reason...he couldn't even stand up to his QB in Green Bay.

I find the whole idea of BB in Dallas intriguing, if for nothing more than the entertainment value...and fact that it would be good to see some "soft" players' backsides kicked around a bit by an old-school coach. Not a bad guy to oversee a rebuild, either. Do we really have anything at all to lose at this point?

Zero chance BB wants anything to do with Jerry and zero chance Jerry wants anything to do with BB

I wouldn't put any credence into what Jerry said about some "formula" or methodology he used to evaluate McCarthy. McCarthy already said that he completely neutralized it by admitting he lied when he embellished. Any model that doesn't account for "noise" is useless and MM was spitting white noise.

At the end of the day it's gut and mood for Jerry. What does his gut tell him (feeds the ego) and what mood he's in at the moment (soothes the ego).

This morning's interview on The Fan pretty much cemented this for me.

In 2020, Jerry felt the roster was close, but had underachieved. He was set on hiring a coach with experience winning in the NFL to get the team over the hump:

"One of our primary goals in selecting the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys was to focus on a proven team-builder and winner. Someone who's got a proven track record of winning not only consistently, but at the highest level," said Jones, per ESPN. "[In] Mike McCarthy, we found a coach who not only checked those boxes, but also has the experience of taking an NFL team to the biggest stage, the Super Bowl, and completing the job."

It's obvious that Jerry feels the same way today. He said as much this morning. He thinks the roster he's assembled is good enough to compete with the best teams in the league. He's paid his WR, he's paid his CB, he's paid his QB. So why aren't we winning? It doesn't matter if you agree, that's how he feels. So if the team fails to meet his expectations, the logical conclusion is going to be to replace the guy in charge of the on-field product. Jerry will once again be looking for a proven winner, and no one has won more than Belichick.

Jerry and Bill have been very complimentary of each other in the past and Bill has spoken highly of the organization on his podcast this season. I'll be curious to see if he bites his tongue if/when they discuss last Sunday's beatdown. Yeah, you're probably going to have to deal with his goon squad of Matt Patricia, Josh McDaniels, et al. tagging along. They come with the territory. Oh well, would you rather have Jerry forcing a head coach to hire his buddies like Zimmer?

For the record, I'm fine with this. The only problem Belichick has ever had in coaching in the last two decades was not being able to find a capable QB after Brady. This team has one. Argue all you want about if Dak is elite, great, or merely good. He can get you to the playoffs and with Belichick that's probably all you need, if you trust he's going to take care of the rest (fix the defenses, beef up the trenches).
In Madden 26.

....maybe...

I don't see it. Too much power struggle. Better chance of Jacksonville.

Jerry and Bill are more alike than you would probably think. In New England, Belichick never shied away from the same kind of "controversial" signings that Jerry loves to make. They brought in Randy Moss, Chad Johnson and Josh Gordon at different times in his tenure.

Jacksonville also has an owners son involved in the decision-making, btw.

I could see and like that, I think he could actually help Dak do something, just not sure he wants to deal with Jerry

I think it would be a good test of Belicheck's coaching ability to see what he could do in Dallas or a similar team...decent QB and decent talent on both sides.

If he is so good...why would he not be able to turn this team around, barring a major injury bug or a major fallout with players?

Bill's name was tarnished post-Brady. Partly his fault because he was not a good GM/Coach and had no QB. I think he wants his respect back...and the 14 wins he needs.

He sure seems to be eager to coach again. He has been on the Manning-cast four episodes in a row looking wide eyed and bushy tailed breaking down games with the Mannings. Even to the point of making Peyton(I like Peyton a lot and like his always talking) shut up so that Bill could show off his coaching mind.

I dont think Bill has a lot of suitors or he wouldnt be on the Manning-cast every episode with Peyton having to take a back seat.. Bill might not be the young, innovative guy...but, like Parcells, I think Belicheck cleans up a lot of mistakes and makes the team look a lot cleaner. Doesnt mean 'clean' beats 'innovation'...but it is something I think is almost guaranteed that he brings. I dont know if you can be guaranteed of anything with a young, innovative coach. Seems like every year there are tons of people talking about these coaching prodigies that dont really pan out as the prodigy they were supposed to be.

It does all seem to fit and anybody who thinks Belichick won't work for Jerry is mistaken.

But Bill Belichick is not only possibly overrated, but definitely washed up. The game has passed him by. It would be merely a cosmetic hire.

i'd love to see it.
i just don't think he'd be able to work with jerry.
i thought that about parcells and he came any way.
but i think he'd want more control than he'd get here.
i think he goes to the giants.
personally,i'd like to see mike vrable.
tough, def minded coach who would instill some discipline and steel into our spines.

BB hasn’t won much without Brady and he was in charge of some bad drafts the last few years with NE.
Yeah, I am at a point where I do not want him either. Give me someone younger with a new philosophy. Get an offensive mind in here and hire a good Defensive coordinator.

Now, can we make Bill only the Defensive Coordinator, I would be all for it, but that is not very realistic.

Would you guys like BB as a head coach if he would bring in Ben Johnson as his OC ?

Lions would probably not let that happen.

This roster is still better than what he had in New England… it still has talent. And he’ll have an offseason to add to it. Anyone that doesn’t think he’ll come here is crazy

You make several logical assumptions and make a lot of sense based on the last search
