It's real interesting how all of this is just now coming out when I've known about these allegations since the 90s. I remember having a conversation with my Dad about Bill Cosby around that time. And the one thing he always said was that Bill wasn't always America's favorite dad.
I remember a number of years ago, the day I realized Cosby was a bit of an ***.
It was draft night and he was with some kid, waiting to be drafted. Anyway, the draft goes on and on and the kid doesn't get drafted - with Bill Cosby sitting right next to him the whole time. The kid is clearly distraught, it's the worst night of his life.
Bill's pep talk to the kid was, "Well, there's always the CFL." And the way he said it, it wasn't like, "Hey, you can work your way back up!" it was like "You're a failure, go play with the other failures."
I didn't know if he was just trying to be funny and it was a joke gone wrong, but it was probably the worst possible thing he could have said in that moment.
