This is the thing with Parcells...
I think he is a great evaluator of talent for the most part, and he does an excellent job of making decent, hardworking guys great players. But I still think Parcells is one of the worst coaches in the league. Why?
Mainly because of pride. Parcells has excelled at 3 other coaching spots, so he thinks he has everything figured out. It is his way or the highway, he has a hard time admitting that he might be wrong.
He does a horrible job of making adjustments during the game...Bledsoe was getting killed when we went empty backfield yet we did it a few more times with horrible success after that. Bledsoe was getting nailed right up the middle trying to get away from center, but do they go shotgun? Hell no, that would make too much sense.
The Eagles didn't show a single time this game that they could just drive down the field on us, so what do we do? We run a CB blitz leaving our rookie safety all alone on a receiver, and that leads to an 80+ yard TD.
And even though everyone except Parcells knew that Vinny wasn't going to do anything for this team back in 2004, what does he do? He sticks with him the entire season and possibly completely ruins the confidence of Henson by sticking him in one half and pulling him, mainly because Parcells loves 'his guys'. And now that Bledsoe has had two three-INT games and has played horribly in both, and his play has basically lost us both games, will Parcells do anything about it? No, because it would be admitting that he was wrong, that 'his guy' wasn't up to snuff.
Parcells is one of the worst coaches in football because he is afraid to say he was wrong, and that stops the team from making crucial changes.
