Making the playoffs 2 out of 4 years with the crap team he was handed is obviously a success.

Overall I'd say it's a 6.5.

5.4 -- just like his record here.

But I wish him well in his retirement years.

Spot on !

I think most folks had high expectations of Bill when he first came to Dallas. And that may have colored how many feel about the current team and personnel. The Seattle playoff game was a mild flirtation, and the team already seemed to have had its guts ripped out before the plane landed in Seattle. Bill said he'd coach 4 years...and he did.
Id say about a 6.0 for the four years he was here. Nothing earth shattering.

I'd give him 6. I do think he helped restore the talent on this team but did not take as far as we had hoped or as far as Parcells himself had hoped.

a 7. We went 5-11 three years in a row before ho got here. We've been to the playoffs twice since he's been here

I'd give him a 2. I'd have given him a 6 if he was smart enough to walk away last season while Dallas still had Payton to take over or even a 5 if he would have done this as soon as the season ended before Dallas lost a quality coach like Lee.

People continually point to how much more talent this team has compared to the '02 team. They're correct but that has almost nothing to do with Parcells. In today's NFL every bad team has more talent four or five years later, it's the nature of the beast.

So... better than Dave Campo gets you 7 out of a possible 10.

Yikes.

Don't you know that is the gold standard around here- just being better than Camps.

He had full control and all the resources to succeed here....

Cap money was never a issue....

Bill failed....alot of coaches that would of cost a lot less could of done the same...

Jerry didnt get a good return on this investment....

Bill goes out with a nice retirement package and a long the way...gives alot of his former players....and other vets...nice retirement packages...

Sure Jerry has a more talented team....but those results could of come much cheaper with another coach

Bill reputation and past record saves him from being critized.....but if Campo was given this much control...this much cap room...and those draft picks..........and in 4 yrs...not win a playoff game....he would of been tared and feathered.

I will give him a 3 rating.....expections were high ....considering in many people's eye's....including Jerry's that this HOF coach could actually coach.

"Better than Dave Campo" would have meant going 16-32 in 3 years.

Picking up the pieces from the Campo era and going 34-30 is another task entirely.

We have no idae if the talent he's drafted will ever win BIG in the NFL. He couldn't get it done so it has to be looked at as a failure.

32-30 = very mediocre which = 5 = failure, especially considering what this franchise has been since its' inception. We along with Detroit are the only teams in the NFC that have not won a playoff game this decade and parcells did nothing to change that. He is a failure here. PERIOD.

I also have to give the BP era an 8 -- overall talent is upgraded, JJ was schooled on football player scouting/acquisition/systems, team is now a playoff contender as-is, -- and the biggest reason for the 8: Tony Romo. Bill insisted on keeping him here, and now we have a young QB that has the talent, moxie and leadership to be a good/great QB for Dallas for years to come...

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being catastrophic failure and 10 being exceded expectations, I would have to give his tenure here a 3.

What say you?

The day he was hired was my wife's birthday. I told her I got the better present and it ws proof God loved me again.

I am not happy with his time here at all. He gets a 5 from me. Symbolic for the just above .500 average he has as the HC.

I'll give him a five for his time here. For the talent upgrade and his above 500 W-L record.

I thank Bill Parcells for relighting my fire......he is the reason I have spent the last 4 years on a Cowboys Forum.
