Bill Parcells speaks about Dallas defense and offense

Sounds like he was talking about Troy Aikman.

Don't believe me? Look at Troy's first 2 and last 4 seasons...

Aikman unlike Dak could complete passes like these with ease in the divisional round of the playoffs:

Aikman’s pass hit Harper in stride away from the defender.

Dak’s pass to Gallup looked like a poorly hit golf shot or dead duck that flailed out to the right of both Gallup and the defender.

Also, Dak cannot get the ball out quickly enough at times. I.e., his first INT against the 49ers was due to this.

Man, no swipe at McCarthy, but sure would love to have the Tuna back. Look what he managed to do with a team that was in the gutter, devoid of talent, and made nothing into something, dude got to the playoffs with Quincy Carter. Plus i miss the press conferences

Not sure if this has been posted or not. BP sees it how I do.

The Super Bowl-winning coach said he likes what he sees from the team on defense but the offense -- particularly Kellen Moore's play-calling -- is hurting the team.

That's not to say that Dak didn't wet the bed but Kellen was asleep at the wheel simultaneously.
Couldn't agree more. Make Dak into more of a 25 attempt QB then a 50 one.

Aikman also threw three interceptions in an NFC Championship vs the 49ers that was a factor in the cowboys not having three superbowl wins in a row and possibly four in a row.

And Aikman kept fighting and things may have been different if the Cowboys have gotten the PI call against Deion Sanders.

Dak cannot get out of the divisional round.

I’m not sure how this is promotion of Dak or demotion of Moore. In fact I think it’s more a demotion of Dak and a get back to the basics for Moore because of the former. It’s always ever been about balance for all football teams, but only some elite QBs can put the team in their back and carry them for some games. This is his way of saying Dak isn’t one of those so stop calling plays and pretending like he is. It’s also not an unexpected opinion from him since Parcells is a conservative coach and won SBs with defense, Simms, a backup in Hostetler, and took the statue Bledsoe to a SB.

Dak does not have a HOF at WR and RB either. Heck I would take that Dallas Cowboys team over this team every time and not just because of the QB.

Dak is not as good as Aikman, not arguing that

The point was even Aikman threw multiple ints in a big game that cost his team a chance at a Superbowl and he did so with a HOF WR and RB and an Oline just as good if not better.

The Cowboys going down 21-0 in the first quarter (Aikman INT, Irvin fumble, and Kevin Williams fumble) was why the Cowboys lost that game.

Dak was the main reason or weak link for the Cowboys losing to the 49ers because he could not get the ball out quicker, missed open receivers, and made bad reads.

The NFL was different back then with the loaded Cowboys going up against a desperate but loaded 49ers team that mortgaged their future signing several free agents including the best cover corner of all time, Deion Sanders.

Also, the 49ers QB was HOF Young with HOF receiver Jerry Rice.

The game last week was evenly matched teams with a 7th round rookie QB outplaying a $40M a year QB.

Great memory I almost forgot about.

A few things...about this play.

1. At home and indoors(mostly). There was 20 mph wind vs SF...both the Gallup throw and Lamb throw seemed to be affected by it in that direction. Dak normally throws a good deep ball.
2. Green Bay that we owned
3. Harper is the 2 that had the speed to make this play as a #2. Who do we have that can make this play?
4. Look at the protection. The play you are ragging on Dak about he had a defender knocking the OL into him.
5. Between Emmit (GOAT) and Irvin (HOF), who is drawing attention so that you get this sort of match up?

I do not know how anyone could arrive anywhere but that Moore's play-calling was iffy. And in win or go home games, he's just simply failed.

Both the BP quote and the JJ quote are saying that you better have a great running game if you want to win with DP at QB.

Not sure how some of you are interpreting these quotes as endorsements of Dak.

Furthermore.... Anyone here who did not crucify BP for the way he called the Seattle playoff game please stand up. Seems to me he was universally criticized here for playing to conservatively.

Glad Bill and I see it the same.

All the yahoo's saying otherwise can argue with Bill.
So you agree with Bill that Zeke should go and Pollard “can’t hold up physically” so we probably should let him go too?
That is what he is implying here

The teams back in the early to mid 90s were loaded and had HOF players on both sides.

The 2022 49ers and Cowboys are evenly matched but with a 7th round rookie outplaying the $40M a year QB.

So you are telling me the $40M QB needs HOF players to win in today’s parity NFL?

If that is the case; he needs to reduce his annual pay.

Dak would have more leeway with his interceptions if he won multiple SBs. Any QB would.

Zeke needs to go...been saying it for years.

Love Pollard, wouldn't mind bringing him back but I don't want to break the bank for him. Having said that, he tapped out a lot when they did try and lean on him and he ultimately got hurt when we needed him. (not his fault)

Aikman had THREE interceptions in that game along with the fumble by other players.
