Too bad it didn't work out for Bill as NY GM.

A few picks like Rogers and Peterman and we wouldn't have to worry about the Giants for a decade.

"La Tuna," I'm surprised at your suggestion that "the Tuna" was at some fault as a player evaluator. The next thing we know you'll be dissing Terry Glenn.

:D j/k

Love Bill, but I'd only let him shop for the groceries if the butcher has already fully labeled them 'prime'.

And I'm not even convinced Merriman and Stephen Jackson are career fillet mignon.

Ps My apologies for the 'meat' analogy.

PPS, and he didn't want to draft Terry - MORE proof!

This was right after Bill gave birth to an alien baby, no?

There are obviously two different factions at work here.

Those that believed Parcells when he said in a press conference that "he wasn't in it for the paycheck", and those that didn't.

Which are you?

Actually, Jerry offered Bill an extension, and Bill couldn't win withe these players and would not take it, so Bill quit.

And then,

see what I did there?

The way I heard it was Bill told Jerry he wanted to quit and Jerry then offered an extension that when Bill said no and quit.

Wait, I'm confused. Where did u hear this from? I thought Bill didn't wanna be a lame duck coach and Jerry was interested in going after the '08 coaches (Cowher, Fisher), so he didn't want to offer Bill an extension. Bill promptly retired. Is this not correct?

The Giants could have been nailed to the wall for tampering if it had ever gotten out. So I for one really doubt that it happened.

In a way it's too bad, for him, that Parcells did not get the call to coach the Giants when Fassel was hired. NY is his home. He is a Jersey guy through and through.

I was ecstatic when he was hired to coach the Cowboys because of his ability to bring teams back from the dead. I was ready for him to leave the last two years though.

If the story is true, it was a classless, low character move on his part. But it's water under the bridge now. No sense in getting worked up about it.

Ok so let's look at this logically. Some points:

- The person Bill allegedly spoke to would have to be someone high up on the food chain. However, it wouldn't be Acorsi due to the way the words were allegedly phrased.

- The person Bill allegedly spoke to would have either a) had his car bugged or b) told someone what Bill said.

- Why would both parties to go the extent of vehemently denying it happened only to have the non-Bill party spill the beans to a book writer later on in the year, as if Bill wouldn't know who it was that told.

- What would stop Bill from fessing up and saying "yea, I said that" and dragging the Giants through a little tampering charge. If they ratted him out to some miscellaneous author, what loyalty does he feel to this current Giants administration, especially since the passing of Wellington Mara?

The whole thing makes no sense, and I have a hard time believing there's a lick of truth to it beyond the possibility that Bill was talking to someone in a car before the game.

i hope this silences the crowd who thought bill parcells was the man for this job this year.....we rip jerry enough around here...but be glad jerry took this team back from the new jersey con man....with all these ex-giants on our sidelines...any man who did not want micheal irvin around this team but was begging lawrence taylor and carl banks and jim burt to come and go as they pleased deserved to get canned. WE ARE DALLAS...in spite of the hard times we have fell on recently, our tradition is still THE BEST in the Super Bowl era....here's to moving forward doing it the Cowboy way!!!!!

Recently????? Try for almost 10 years prior to last year. It sounds like the Packers fans and Dallas haters on KTCK brainwashed you. Typical.....

That's seriously old news. I heard about Parcells wanting that job towards the end of last season sometime.
