Its pretty weak. A videoboard reference, and a Jessica Simpson thing I zoned out on.....

Has us at 7-9, no real mention why. Doesnt matter though, last year he said Dallas had no pass rush

This is why I don't understand how these people make big bucks, and I'm sitting here at home unemployed.

He's not a joke writer and not an analyst.

That article also has no mention of him saying we didn't have a pass rush last year.. I just think that was his own prediction. What's funny is, until Wade took over, our pass rush really wasn't all that special.

And yeah, Simmons is about cracking jokes but still making it relevant to sports. He'll never claim to be some expert analyst, that's for sure.

Simmons hasn't been relevant or funny for years. His columns have continually been weak since he's come to ESPN and it seems like the only thing he is good for is Boston sports area fans and riling up the non-Boston fans by acting like a ludicrous fanboy. Of course he just excuses it as 'well, I'm not a serious sports writer.' In that case, he's not funny either. Just like MTV, ESPN tends to ruin everything.

He typically makes some very relevant points, particularly with NBA articles. You guys are just whining because he gave no respect to the team this season.

Had he picked us for the Super Bowl, people would be on here talking about how entertaining his articles are and how his opinions are great.

No need to blast everyone who doesn't sweat our team.

Being the most read personality on the most popular sports site essentially rebuts your arguments about his relevancy.

When's the last time somebody besides an OKC sports radio host has Simmons' column made an impact on the sports community? It's like saying that 'You Got Served' is a better movie than 'Shawshank Redemption' because it did a much larger box office.

If being relevant is having Boston sports fans as your readers, then so be it. Personally I find it funny that a guy like Bob Ryan who writes for the Boston Globe can be less of a Boston homer and have a wider range of subject matter without relying on the same punchlines than a guy like Simmons who writes for a Web site that is supposed to be an international sports media outlet.

Okay, I don't get this, and I even listen to OKC radio sometimes... :)

Simmons has a ton of NBA fans as readers (me, for one) who aren't Boston fans, as well as fans of other NFL teams. Baseball is one sport where he has little impact.

Bob Ryan has been mailing it in for a decade now.

He is very relevant, he has the #1 sports podcast in the world and he is the most read columnist on espn.com.

I'm a big fan so I'm biased.

Thanks. :)

Traber is too much of a hothead for my tastes, but he did play quaterback at a Big 12 school and was a pro baseball player, so he does usually know what he's talking about.

Did you hear Goose on GAC yesterday?

If not go listen to that podcast. He has no respect for Dallas. He even goes as far as saying Washington has more weapons than we do and points out having a healthy D.Hall as a big positive.

Would it upset you if I told you I truthfully have never ever heard of the guy and as of yet have not read one thing he has ever written.

You just reminded me... I got a phone call right then, so I recorded it. Haven't listened yet, but I'm going to right now.

No shock that he has no respect for Dallas, though... He's always been that way. I only listen to him to get a laugh out of his epic smugness and arrogance. :)

Edit, listening now... LMAO!

Gosselin: "There's a feeling on the East Coast that the Commanders are better than the Cowboys."
Galloway: "Who in the hell can think that? You don't even believe that, do you Rick?"

No, why would it? Personal annecdotes don't refute an argument concerning a person's relevancy and popularity to the public as a whole.

"Led Zeppelin is pretty popular"

"Really? I never heard of them."

"Oh, well there goes that argument, huh?"

(inc people saying "OMG you're comparing Simmons' popularity to Led Zeppelin???!! LOLOLOLOL!!11!)
