well, that's the way you do it. you expect championship games. if you can't do it, then move on to the next. we stick to the end of the contract to avoid coaches dead money. unless its a total and utter disaster.

McDermott is a solid coach. They fell off the last few years though. There defense has declined and they have really struggled to replace Diggs. There offense is basically Cook with Allen trying to make a casserole out of span and velveeta

Always seems to be issues with the Bills. Poor DEF, clock management, my perception is they are not well coached.

One difference both were Defensive coaches but in Mcdermott's case it was the defense that let him down

I get why the Bills might feel like they've gone as far as they can go with McDermott, but in this situation, I think he's the fall guy. The Bills have just not had a strong enough roster to get out of the divisional round, and coaching hasn't been the issue.

I don't think McDermott is a bad coach, but I don't think he's an "elevator" either. He's long proven to be a good defensive mind, and he will definitely be calling plays for someone next year, but I don't think he can push the Bills defense beyond their talent level either. There's probably only 2 or 3 defensive playcallers who can.
