hope you like rental players that won't even help you sniff the playoffs.

Melo's going to the Knicks one way or another.

Uh....der. They wouldnt be doing all this if Melo doesnt sign an extension. You dont trade a 19 year old man-child for a rental. He will sign re-up

So much hate for the Evil empire known as the Nets

If Melo gets traded to NJ and signs an extension, feel free to bump this thread or give me a few hours incase I'm not by a computer and I'll bump this thread, but you are dellusional if you think melo will sign an extension with the Nets just to avoid the new CBA (which may decrease player salaries across the board, which would mean he gets the same money).

For melo to even consider signing the extension, you guys will need to be in a position to compete with Miami, Orlando, Boston and Chicago next year. Add Melo to NJ, even if you keep Favors and Lopez and that's not enough. Trade them and bring in averege role players (Al Harrington and Richard Hamilton) and that won't be enough. Again I still maintain NJ may rent Melo for a year, if they can keep Favors, Lopez and Harris, but unless NJ has a big turn around and they can convince Melo that they can get CPaul in a trade, there's no reason for him not to bolt to NY, Chicago, Orlando (not possible w/o a S&T) or even New Orleans (Probably need a S&T as well).

Denver, N.J. and Detroit "progressing" on Melo blockbuster in talks Sunday, front office source says. Denver mining league for best offer.

Melo himself has said he is signing an extension wherever he goes. People seem to ignore this.

But Im w/ you in that they wont be a title contender for a bit. But our FO isnt worried about that. Their plan is to get a star, build around him, and hopefully one day be a destination for CP3 or Deron. In fact, the deal thats about to go down may surprise some people in how much the Nets are giving up. Theyll probably get bounced in R1 this year.

But w/ Melo being 26 and Lopez at 22 theres time to build something there.

Rose and William Wesley of CAA have long wanted to get Anthony and another of their clients, New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul(notes), to the Nets as the franchise prepares for a move to Brooklyn, N.Y. Whichever franchise gets Anthony – the Nets or Knicks – will find itself a frontrunner to eventually acquire Paul.

Any kind of link to support this? Even if it's second hand info, ie a source close to melo says he'll sign an extension if traded to NJ.

I previously provided a link saying a source close to him says he won't sign an extension prior to free agency with anyone but the knicks, but you dismissed it.

Sources say NJ-Den-Det talks "further along" than any of other recent 3-team scenarios (Cavs, Twolves, Blazers) were.

NJ getting indications Melo sit-down with Mikhail Prokhorov and Jay-Z may not even be necessary to convince Melo to sign w/NJ.

Of course, Melo still has to sign off on all this & agree to ext with NJ, but NJ getting indications Melo's agreeable.....

No bump necessary. This ***** is going down

Dont get in the Nets way, or youll pay, listen to what I say

One source said "tonight or tomorrow." Some things still need to be worked out, but it's picking up steam.
Things definitely are moving forward on the Nets-Den-Det talks. Something could happen "within the next 48 hours."

I'm gonna go eat some hay. I just might lay by the bay. I may.

Deal is getting closer yet. Looking at about 14 players. Some things need to be worked out, but Nets-Nugs-Pistons very close

Adrian Wojnarowski
Nets-Pistons nearing agreement on terms of Hamilton-Murphy component - still debating Petro --- but overall deal is .. close

Good timing on the thread you guys. No seriously
