OK then it is the obvious with Witten. If you had the talent to replace him, he is not helping you. That is not a Team Leader and Winner and the results prove it. So Darren Waller better watch his back as he has far more physical talent and ability at this stage that Witten. Martellus Bennett and Rico Gathers know the true Jason Witten.
The results prove it? You mean the HOF career results? Or are you saying Witten is solely responsible for the team not winning the Super Bowl over his career?

You have a weak argument. Even if earlier in his career he wasn't the kind to mentor the young guys, he has never been accused of not working as hard as anyone or taking his job seriously, or being precise in his routes and having great hands.

Not everyone is a nurturer. Why only blame Witten - he's not the only one.

Besides, as all but a few malcontents have said, he is a true lead by example guy. Like DeMarco Murray told Zeke when he came into the league, (paraphrasing) watch Witten and learn and do what he does on and off the field.

People who want to learn will learn, and people who want to be babied won't,

I was referring to cowboys players doing well elsewhere in general and not tight ends.
This is a common complaint among some fans, but who exactly are all these people doing so much better?

Okay - Bennett picked up the pace a bit after Dallas, but wouldn't anyone that found they were no longer 2nd team to a HOF caliber player? And, as it turns out, he wore out his welcome everywhere, playing for 4 teams over 6 years after Dallas, and was out of football at 30 years old.

Who else? Sure, there are a few that did better after leaving, and some who didn't do as well, and even some that improved when they came to Dallas (Laurent Robinson, Leonard Davis, Robert Quinn, George Selvie, Marc Colombo).

But the notion that there are a large number of people that leave Dallas and go onto significantly better careers elsewhere is a myth.
