Blame Wade Wilson for Dak Prescott

For those who hate Dak it could have been worse. We could have ended up with Paxton Lynch or Connor Cook both of which the Cowboys tried trading up for. Lynch only lasted 2 seasons in the NFL and Cook only one season. Even the second overall pick Carson Wentz was a dud. Say what you will but Dak was an excellent 4th round pick. Romo’s body was breaking down and we could have been wasting a number of premium draft picks trying to replace him. The past 9 years could have been much worse. It’s the truth whether some want to admit it or not. We may not have achieved the ultimate with Dak and probably won’t but we got a whole lot more out of him than anyone ever thought we would when we drafted him.
But.....we might have hit near rock bottom without Dak 2017-2021

Had chance at Josh Allen, Burrows, MaHomes

That’s what it took to get Aikman....a 1-11 season
Those type of seasons easy to forget when SB rings show up

We might not have sunk near low enough to have ended up with one of them. Let’s not forget Mayfield and Darnold were drafted ahead of Allen because they were seen as better prospects. Allen was the only QB selected in the top 10 in 2018 that became a great QB. Had we ended up with any of the others it wouldn’t have worked out. We would have needed the number one overall pick to land Burrow. As for Mahomes he was seen as a reach when KC traded up for him in the top 10. We could’ve ended up with Mitch Trubisky. lol It took the number one overall pick to get Aikman and we got lucky he panned out because many top college QBs don’t.

Blame Qak. Let him pull up his big boy panties and say, "I'm doing the best I can," instead of, "I got okay better."

He's had 10 years to learn something. At this point one little thing should have rubbed off on him.

Yet, here we are with a bus driver in a world filled with dynamic QBs who make plays and never say, "I got be better."

Somebody ought to ask, "when do you plan on getting to work on getting better?"

Paxton would have been a 1st rounder..........you honestly think Jerry would have given up on him after 2 years? Let's now forget the draft pick we were giving up to get back into the 1st.

What im not going to do is blame a man that’s no longer with us

What I will do is Blame Jerry because Dak should’ve been released after the GB game, he’s 30…you’ve seen his ceiling….

Only thing you can get from him is elite regular season play and bottom tier playoff play

Had we not drafted Dak, we'd have been in prime position to draft Mahomes the following year. Mahomes from Texas and a childhood cowboys fan woulda been a novel.

Mahomes wasn't a top 5 pick because scouts didn't know if he could read a defense. It's not a given that they would've taken him.

Some Ivy or an equivalent school like Cal, Duke or Stanford is missing Garrett as a HC. I hope he goes back to coaching at the college level.

I’m one of the few that actually like Garrett. Never got it done but did recognize that building a dominant run game via the OL was key to getting back to those physical 90’s teams.

I do see him as a leader of men, could be in the Corporate world too. Great storyteller, needs a podcast of some sort.

Go ahead, have at it!

The problem has never been the drafting of Dak Prescott, he was an historic 4th round pick.

The real problem was his contracts, the absence of genuine competition at the position and the attempt to turn him into something he wasn't.

Dak wasn't a gunslinger, he was a very capable bus driver so long as the offense had their strong lineup. They should have continued to use him the way they did his rookie season.

They also should have made a point to acquire an alternative instead of behaving as if the QB position was set for the next 10 years. This would have also given the team leverage during contract talks.

Any negative feelings about Dak should be directed towards management.
That was an excellent post and then you spoilt it with that last sentence, especially the word ANY. Dak isnt absolved from everything in this contract.....Just because the contract is overwhelmingly Jerry's fault, Dak will be held up on his part of the agreement.... if he stinks, whilst accounting for 1/8 of the total CAP, he's a big contributory factor in our demise.

This is nothing new ..........Wade stood on the table for Dak after Paxton Lynch and Connors's attempts failed. Don't understand the blame Wade tone.......imagining drafting Lynch or Connors instead on Dak.
Had they drafted Lynch or Connors they would of become so bad it's possible they end up with a first round pick like Burrows
Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Herbert, Love.

Excellent 4th round pick.
I think it was a very good 4th round pick, but at the end of the day it is a 4th round pick.

Getting a Tom Brady type of QB in the later rounds does not happen very often.

Cowboys need to invest in a new QB in next year's draft.

I think the Dak experiment has definitely ran it's course.
