Blatant pick plays

First of all, I am indifferent to anybody who wants to claim I'm blaming the refs for losing the game. In fact, I'm accepting that as much as I'm accepting those same people wanting us to throw away a 2nd round pick on Josh Gordon and ignore our other problems.

Just wanting a point of clarity on something.

I don't do a lot of complete analysis of the games, but one thing I did notice that shouldn't be held against our defenders is the blatant picks thrown by WRs from Denver.

Late in the game, the jump ball thrown to Demaryius Thomas should have been a penalty. The other WR completely hurled his backside at Carr, and actually knocked him back for Thomas to make that catch.

Saw it all day on crossing routes and pretty much any time Denver needed 4-5 yards for a first down.

Like I said, I didn't analyze whether we do it or not, but I just don't understand why this isn't called and penalized.

Offensive PI is seldom called nowadays; never when a team is playing against the Cowboys.

Honestly we shouldn't be complaining about offensive PI since Dez gets a nice little pushoff every time he's in the endzone and never gets called.

Over the years, they've called Witten on this, but the Broncos get a free pass. I believe it was Romo who mentioned they ran these pick plays before the game, so it's not like the refs weren't aware they were doing it. One presumes they saw it during the game. Guess we don't get the same home cooking they give to the Steelers.

You could call that stuff on every elite receiver in the game if you are going to call it on Dez.

And, not for nothing, I think he has been called for offensive PI twice this year.

I do believe Terrance helped himself to a push off, too.

Talking cowboys discussed this the other day. They asked Carr if he complained during the game and Carr said the zebras told him they wouldn't call it if it occurred within a yard or 2 of the LOS.

More offense (especially Goodell's pet Broncos) is what the NFL wants, so I'm sure they're told to keep the flags in their pockets on picks, shoves and push-offs. I'm sure the game got killer ratings.

Yeah, but it's funny how the announcers complain about push-offs when Dez/Twill does it, but not when a WR from another team does it. Happens all the time in other games yet goes unnoticed.

Instead of complaining about it...how about we do it ourselves. Especially when we are down in the redzone and our coaching is struggling to figure out how to get the ball in from 3 yards out!!!!

Denver throws picks all the time... most of their passing plays are short throws with YAC. 2 seconds, boom! 2 seconds, boom!

It's almost impossible to stop.

Last week getting 6 points was not a problem.

Because the refs would throw their little pink flags....

By no means am I suggesting 48 points should not win a game. But we were 1st and goal from the 3 yard line and wound up kicking a FG. In todays NFL...you MUST be greedy. Sorry, this cannot happen. Kicking FGs will get you beat...especially playing against Denver. Not sure WHY Tyron Smith false started....but too often we look like we are trying to solve the debt ceiling crisis when we get down there. I hate to even think about the garbage on display when we were in KC.

Peyton Manning has gotten more help from the refs than any other Qb that I've seen in 53 years of watching the NFL. When ever he's behind, and a defender makes a good defensive play on a WR, out comes a flag. I haven't seen it as much since he got his ring, but I'm still not over the TB games of 10 years ago, or thereabouts...

Exactly. The powers that be love high scoring games and they're going to encourage offense at every turn. Yes, those picks should be illegal, but the 2013 NFL is hardly ever going to call them.

Which means we should be using them ourselves.

If you watch closely, Dez does not actually push-off the DB. He likes to do what looks like a fake push-off where he quickly puts his hands on the DB chest but does not push. Easy to get called for it, though.

I've noticed this as well. He doesn't do any kind of pushing motion wit his arms. He has his arms extended to keep defenders out of his space because he has an incredible reach advantage (longer arms than Megatron). But he doesn't Michael Irvin/Randy Moss push them out of the way when the ball is in the air.
