Wentz's mobility will have to save him from his own feet. At this point, he looks more like a Joe Flacco, another FCS product and a mid-first-round pick, than a layup franchise passer that we're accustomed to seeing as the first quarterback taken off the board.

The Senior Bowl, next week's all-star game in Mobile, Alabama, should be telling, as final thoughts on Wentz will develop after a week of practice. Even playing vanilla concepts against the best athletes he's ever lined up against should give us a better feel on how big of a splash the Bison passer can really make.

First they tell me the hype is real. Now they tell me don't believe the hype. I just don't know what to believe anymore.

I have to think he is actually still hyping Wentz himself to a lessor extent..........projects him as a mid 1st rounder yet also, still up 20 spots from the consensus high 2nd rounder before his comeback at the FCS Championship game.

Honestly with the rookie slotting system, if in 2 years you have a top 10-15 YOUNG QB leading the team to the playoffs, will anyone care that we took them at 4 instead of 15 and missed out on a linebacker or defensive back that maybe would have changed you from a 28th defense to a 20th defense if they are fantastic? The Money is a non-factor and having a 5th year of a QB if he pans out on a rookie deal is great cap wise. The Salary difference from the #4 to the #15 pick is what? 4.5mil instead of 2.5 per year. Couldn't find exact numbers but they are in that area. If you have a chance at getting a QB that will be a good starter never mind a super star, you get him, there is no other position that is even close when it comes to being an "impact player". This is a young team outside of Tony and Witten. I love those guys, but you need to do what's best for the team period, not what's best for 2 guys.

Don't believe the hype, but the guy is Joe Flacco? Well, sign me up then. I mean, while Flacco isnt Dan Marino, he has won a Super Bowl and he played brilliantly getting to it and in the game. He's got 10 playoff wins, including 7 on the road (NFL record). If Wentz turns out to be Flacco, I'd take it.

I tend to agree although I think his arm is a better than B-grade level. Always tough to really tell in the college game because of the size of the football. For instance, I thought Aaron Rodgers had a pretty good arm and some scouts questioned his arm strength. But there was no way I thought Rodgers had the arm that he has today. And some QB's improve their arm strength thru better mechanics and physical conditioning. I think Romo's arm strength has improved, but Brady's has greatly improved (probably from throwing a deflated ball :D )

My issue with Wentz is the inconsistencies in technique. Sometimes his footwork was sloppy, sometimes his release mechanics were off, sometimes his pocket presence was off. But, he did show great mechanics as well. Just needs to be more consistent.

I think the fact is with this kid is that he needs at least 1 year on the bench. I can understand some of the worries about his accuracy and comparing him to other inaccurate QB's, but those QB's started right away and didn't have that chance to put most of their focus on their throwing mechanics and eliminate those problems. I don't think he's worthy of a #4 pick overall, but I like him as a prospect and if Goff and Lynch are gone it's tough to pass up on a guy that you may think has a good shot of being a legit franchise QB.

We would have to figure out how to get a Baltimore level D really quickly because Flacco certainly wasn't the main reason they won.

Are you talking about the Baltimore defense that gave up 468 yards and 31 points in the SB that year, and the defense and ST that allowed 35 in the divisional round that year? That defense? Cause it seemed to me Joe Flacco's 38 and 34 points generated in those games had alot to do with the outcomes. It also seemed his 11td/0 int postseason was a large factor in them winning.

Usually, not always, the SB MVP has a great deal of impact in the outcome of the SB. I'm pretty sure Flacco won the SB MVP that year.

Ball size is really negligible.

An NFL football will measure 11" long with a 22" circumference at the midway point. Unless it is being used by the Patriots (joke Pats fans, joke), the air pressure should be between 12-1/2 psi and 13-1/2 psi.
A college ball (D1) will be just slightly smaller (1/2" in length and 1" circumference).

Jimmy Johnson and George Seifert were more interested in the brass vs. papier-mache composition instead of size.
