I have not been one that has been negative on Drew Bledsoe at all. In fact I think he can be an upgrade on Vinny and have been pretty optimistic.

But there was a very disturbing stat on MNF last night. I don't know if it has been talked about at all here--I apologize if it already has. The stat was that Bledsoe had the second lowest quarterback rating for play action passes last year. The only QB worse was as I recall AJ Feely. Michaels also pointed out that Bledsoe had a low number of play action passes, so maybe the number is skewed. I certainly hope so.

But if not, this is a real problem. It seems to me that our offense will be based around play action. We need a good running game and the ability to do play action off of that. If Bledsoe cannot be effective in play action, we are in deep trouble.

Anyone have any thoughts on why Bledsow was so terrible on play action passes?

Playaction only works if you have a running game...the entire first half, JJ and the O-line were totally shut down (I only mention JJ because when it comes to A-Train, people want to say he was horrible because he only ran well on one drive...sheesh)...not surprisingly, the passing game, especially play action, was a joke.

TD series? Line blocked and got JJ across the line of scrimmage...he did the rest...suddenly the play action works a little better. It really is a pretty simple game.

Wasn't it Polite who got across the goal line? On a pass play?

it helps too if you can not make it as obvious as Bledsoe does. I think he tries too hard to sell it.

The stat was based on last year's--2004--statistics. I didn't watch the Bills much, but I understand that they had a pretty decent running game with McGahee.
