Bledsoe - my observation

Bledsoe really struggles on 3 step quick hit plays. Either its there or its not. And often the pocket collapses on him.

I like him best at 5 and 7 drop plays. Especially off play action. The field opens up and thats when he hits a lot of medium range passes. And the threat is there that will keep secondary out of box setting up run later.

Open the damn playbook up. I'd rather go down shooting than drowning on my own vomit slowly.

I'm not worried about Bledsoe. For goodness sakes, everyone is allowed to screw up once in a while. Ask Favre. I'm sure he will play well Sunday.

Yep, I am hardly a Bledsoe homer. I think you know that I was very much against bringing him in, but he has performed way above my expectations.

Last week was not a good week for him at all. I expect him to bounce back, if he continues to struggle then I have a problem with him. He got his mulligan.

What kind of crap is that? He got his Mulligan?

Rest assured, Bledsoe will struggle again before the season is through. It's normal for an NFL QB to have an off game now and again.

Right I understand that. If he strings to together some good games before he has an off game he earns another mulligan.

You start playing poorly week after week and you get no sympathy from me. BTW not saying he has played poorly week after week. First bad game of the year.

We'll see. Bledsoe in the last 2 games has 2 TDs and 3 INTs. Not a trend I would like to see continue.

I'd like to see Bledsoe vertically challenging field more. Spread the field out. All this 2 TE set crap brings people into the game and bogs everything down.

Run, Run, Pass just doesn't cut it.

Wilma, we totally agree on this. I think Bledsoe needs to be throwing 60% of the time in this offense. At least.

What's strange about Bledsoe is on the 3 step drop he seems to get out really slow (although he's been quicker in the last two games).

In the 5 or 7 step drop he gets out pretty quickly.

I've been saying this since the Raiders game.

The problem this week with the 3 step drops was if the primary receiver wasn't open, and the Hawks did a pretty good job in coverage, Bledsoe was getting backed into by his own guys. We missed having Crayton on 3rd downs a lot. Witten should be primary on 3rd down and at the goal line IMO. But as well as we were running we passed on 3rd and two almost every time- not a good plan in bad weather.

Bledsoe just isn't a 3 step drop QB. Once play breaks down thats where he gets sacks and engulfed. He prefers and is much batter at getting back 5 and 7 drops and exploiting coverages.

This 2 TE set and run, run offense does nout suit him and I sense now he was not "into" the Seattle gameplan. Yet he was into the Eagle game plan big. JMO

Right on the money as far as I'm concerned. I don't want the Cowboys to go nuts and spread the field the whole game, and forget how to line up and run the ball when they need to, but trying to pass with one WR in the game, or out of a 2 tight end set most of the time is crazy.

I think Parcells/Payton think this way, too. I think they just thought they had a chance to win this week with a conservative strategy. (a) new starting tackle (b) against a very good team, one Parcells called the best we've faced thus far and (c) on the road.

It would have worked if we could have made a .... you know.

I don't think there's any way we play it that close to the vest this week.

Yet he is still only 22 yards behind the lead for NFL Yards, he is #3 in NFL Touchdowns, and #5 in NFL Rating (#2 in the NFC). The odds caught up to him - he was playing too good to be true.

Honestly, is anyone truly suprised by Bledsoe's performance? We knew what we were getting when we signed him. If you can protect him, he can look like an All-Pro. If you fail to protect him, Bledsoe will throw a lot of interceptions and take many sacks. He is a very much a QB of extremes. That's been true thus far this season. A big reason why Bledsoe failed to perform well last Sunday was the pass protection fell a bit and he faced a lot more pressure than he had in the past.

Great Take! Bledsoe reminds me of Troy Aikman more than any QB I have observed. They both like to hold onto the ball and take that long 5 step drop. However, if you could protect either QB, they would just make you pay.

We all new this to be true, but somet people didn't believe how good he could be with protection. We are going to have serious problems if we have to resort to a Commander game plan every week because we need to get the ball out quickly.

I just don't think Drew was ever comfy in the pocket last game...

Hopefully we see improvement in the Oline so he can take the time to see receivers getting open or looking off & going with better options...

The way I see it, it's not a mulligan if you mess up every time you swing.
