Bledsoe - my observation

Drew is the best QB we have had hear since about 1998. Simple as that.
And Drew has NEVER had the supporting cast that Aikman did 1992-1996.
He never had an Emmitt Smith, an Irvin, or the O line we had. He had some good backs, some pretty good WR's (Glenn) and a couple of good TE's. BUT NEVER THE PACKAGE AIKMAN had.

Aikman and Drew were like 2 different types of engines - one a high performance 6 cylindar with great gas mileage (efficiency), and the other a big V-8 that puts out more horsepower but doesn't get the same mileage. That is, naturally Drew didn't have the same passing percentage (61% for Troy, 57% for Drew), when he was throwing 30% more TDs and 15% more INTs, and 15% more yards in the average game. That's what happens when you air it out - more TDs, more INTs, more yards, less accuracy.

Scaled to yards per completion, Drew was completing 12 yard passes at slightly less accuracy than Troy was completing 11 yard passes. In a 3rd and 11 vs 3rd and 12 situation, your odds of success go down. That translates to the quality of your team, where Aikman had an advantage. Imagine how Drew would have looked in his prime with the 1992 Cowboys.

Oh really?

I'll have to remember that when I look at the stats of Montana, Young and Marino.

Bledsoe on fire.....19-24 220 TD AND A LAUGHER WIN.....

5-3 and at the mid season mark we are on track.

Nors, I agree with your observation about Bledsoe's limitations on quick-hit plays. He looks much more comfortable with the 7-step drop, but it made him a target last week. Loved that we checked down to Barber so much today- it could be a key weapon in the second half against DEs that overmatch our tackles...

Bledsoe will soon be 1 of I believe 3 QB's that have ever thrown for 50,000 yards. He is very, very comfortable dropping back and challenging and breaking down a D in 5 and 7 drops. You want trouble? 3 drops dink and dunk stuff is not what he's best at.
