Blind squirrels and broken clocks

As we all watch our stubbornly foolish GM drag his feet once again in a coaching search, the better head coaching candidates are getting hired by other more proactive teams with a clear plan to try and win a championship. Meanwhile we have a marketing plan. Sell, sell, sell. Wash, rinse, repeat. Yes…It’s discouraging but there’s always even a sliver of hope.

Honestly, as long as Jerry is running things, our “sliver of hope“ to ever even get close to a championship comes down to two old sayings which I believe are all we can hope for in the Jerry era:

• ”Even a blind squirrel occasionally catches a nut.”
• ”Even a broken clock is right twice a day.”

That‘s what our future hopes are pinned to. Basically, Lady Luck must have sweet mercy on us. And in today’s NFL, occasionally a blind squirrel catches a nut, or a broken clock is right twice.

Here are some examples of “blind squirrel” teams of the last two decades that made it to a conference championship.

• Believe it or not, the Jacksonville Jaguars have made the AFC championship game 3 times since our last NFC conference championship game! The jags played in the 1996, 1999 and 2017 AFC championship games! Lost all 3 but they made it.
• The Tennessee Titans have also made it to the AFC championship game 3 times since we last did it. 1999, 2002, and 2017.

So whoever is named HC of the Cowboys will need lots of luck. Again, until JJ is gone, our hopes will be tied to blind squirrel-blocken clock luck. Because if by some miracle, Jerry once again hoists a Lombardi, it won’t be because he followed a great plan. And it that ever happens with Jerry Jones at the helm, Lady Luck will deserve the credit!

I find it interesting that a handful here complain more about fellow fans complaing than the acts of this FO which is causing failure and fan apathy.

To be clear, it's not merely the fans complaing as it's also the "ENTIRE Sports Media" that is also pointing out the missteps and mistakes by this FO

At least I know the ones I complain about are reading it. The FO hasn't read any complaints on here. It's a waste of time and just takes away from a great place to talk football.
That's my complaint. We all know the FO and JJ, in general has let us down....are we changing that by beating a dead horse? If we can, give me a bat, I'll beat the hell outta that horse.

There has not been any real football talk on here since the end of the season. And even during the season, there wasn't much real football talk.

No talk of upcoming FA, even if they feel the team will not be involved. Still no talk, of our own or who to keep, let go, other teams players

That's me. Not chastising for complaining, but rather the amount of complaining. Every day it's a new thread with just the exact same crybaby complaining. It's always Jerry, never the players, never the staff, it's all Jerry's fault. And when he dies and Stephen takes over, I'm sure it will be all Stephen's fault. Jerry isn't on the field. He isn't passing, running, kicking. At some point you have to hold players accountable.

What's sad is the fact that JJ will say and do anything to take ALL the credit if our new HC is able to turn this organization around from possibly being a consistent bottomfeeder in the NFL................
